I sure don't. Gamespot's been on a war path to dominate low scores lately, and I've stopped caring long ago. But that being said, some people will still be affected by the rare low score in a sea of good ones. With that said, are you still buying Tropical Freeze?

I bought my copy late last year when Toys R Us was offering buy 1 get one 40% on all Nintendo games.

Anyone that uses gamespot as their single source of reviews deserves what they get.

Everyone knows Gamespot reviews are a joke among jokes

GS reviews have no foundation or meaning. This has been the case for a long time.

I don't care about the GS score, let alone any score really. It seems like GS is an outlier in the score department, but I was getting this game regardless. I'll try to sneak in a Returns playthrough this weekend before my copy arrives in the mail next week.

If the score would be 6/10 on many sites, and not just GameSpot, I would care. About the GameSpot score, I couldn't care less and can't wait to get the game which is obviously an awesome game.

They complain about the game playing it too safe, and yet they gave Call of Duty Ghosts an 8.

Call of Duty games always seam to get way to high ratings.

Like Modern Warfare 3, that game is dreadful.

It's just one review. The majority seem to like it.

ShopTo has already dispatched my copy. I love the original, and really can't see it been as bad as gamespot says.

I'm glad people here don't care about review scores. I'm not interested at all in the game but I still want it to sell well for Nintendo's sake.

I'm just glad Retro's done with this game and now can focus on something else!

Scores don't make games, next time try reading the review properly and also check other websites for their reviews. Also it's wrong to criticize something or someone just because he poorly rated your favourite game or console. I understand that you're a Nintendo fan or a fan of DK series but we need constructive non biased reviews, not some bullshit to please the fanboys.

@V3rciS: what about when the context of the review itself is contradictory to the majority of other reviews? One of Gamespots negatives was the level design and playing it too safe, while multiple other outlets mentioned outstanding level design that keeps introducing new elements and looking at gameplay videos it certainly seems that way. You're assuming people simply look at the number and complain, some may do that, but other do read it.

I thought I should add here that GameInformer gave Tropical Freeze a 9.25/10 - and called it the 'Game of the Month' and rated it 'GameInformer Gold'.

The review also goes on to mention that while there are only 6 stages in TF, instead of 8, that each level is longer than in the previous game and the levels and stages have a good bit of variety to keep things fresh.

Still though, I guess you gotta play it for yourself and see what you think.

Have to say the majority of the reviews not only mention the soundtrack, but rave about it.

Nintendo needs to hire David Wise. Not sure if he'd be a good fit for Metroid (especially when Yamamoto does it so well) but, honestly, I think he could give Mario a really fresh sound.

At any rate, Mr. Wise composed only few scores last decade, due to working for Rare, which was falling apart at the time. After he left Rare he's only done a few indie games. It's really a waste of his talent for him to be composing music for unreleased games or an occasional tiny app store release.

You bet I'm getting this. Donkey Kong Country Returns is one of the best games I've ever played full stop. I fully expect this sequel to be one of the best games this year, if not the best.

My copy arrived today and If i'm been honest i'm disappointed.

Now I want it known that I loved Returns, I'd say it's probably my favorite side scrolling platformer, but with Tropical Freeze I'm only at level 1-3 and i'm already losing interest. Levels this time around seem to be longer, and yet also feel like there's a lot less in them. I also know I'll get a lot of hate for this, but the music so far is worse than Returns, and the SNES trilogy.

IDK, hopefully these elements will improve as I get further in, but so far this games failed to grab me, where as Returns did so in the very first level.

@spike6958: Uh you are way too early in, yes I'm sure the first world is easy and with little secrets and content to get you going. Wow returns grabbed you bc it was the first new dk game in a long time of course it will not have same impact.

@spike6958: Surprising to read that about the music considering who worked on the music and how its been fantastic on the trailers. I can't judge it yet though, since I wont be getting it until tomorrow.

For those getting the digital version, the game is 11GB. Make sure you have the appropriate space available before purchase. :)

It is the sequel to last generation's finest 2-D platformer. It is a Donkey Kong made by Retro, and as a part of a major Nintendo franchise the fun is pretty much guaranteed.

Plus, its soundtrack was composed by that guy named David Wise.

In other words, whatever scores this game gets, they probably do not do it justice as it is impossible to translate such level of awesomeness into numbers.

Although I loved Donkey Kong Country Returns, last generations finest 2D platformer was Rayman Origins for me personally. That game kicked so much arse.

I would put Origins right behind Donkey Kong Country Returns.

I think Tropical Freeze will have a very hard time beating Legends, though. That game is just mind-blowing.

After playing it and reaching world 3 all i can say is, haha holy crap if this game is a 6 rating game then i dunno what a 2d platform game should do to get better score.

its a high quality game am really enjoying it. The music+level designs are some of the best, am loving it

one thing thought, its kinda easier than DKCR but maybe it will get tough later.

The fact is a lot of people didn't want another DK game / another 2D platformer and this affected the scores.

I loved World 1, so far.

I will say that the majority of the improvements are either aesthetical, or serve to make this game feel even more like DKC than Returns did.

More new ideas would be appreciated, but I'm willing to settle for excellence.
