I am very soon getting a DS and i was wondering if I need a screen guard for it? Does the stylus scratch up the screen with normal use?
Thanks in advance.

It is a good idea to have one, everyone else says they are pointless and who cares if you get a small scratch on your screen, but what if by mistake your hand slips or someone else plays it and scratches it? its not worth it to take that risk and have to pay another 100 dollars to get it repared.
so long as you don't mount it in the wal-mart gaming aisle or are under 10 years of age, you should have enough self control not to ruin your screen.blazethe1Yep.
is not nessesary, just dont scratch it purposely or use something sharp/metal on the screens n u'll be fine...but if u do get one.. n after u want to get rid of it...there might be some sticky stuff left on the screen
The way I figure it, I spent $130+ on my DS lite, and if something happens to the screen, it's obviously better to just replace a $5 screen protector. I'm one of those extremely paranoid people who protects the DS in any way possible, and yet I still got a tiny scratch on the screen before I got a screen protector. Sure, the scratch is small and barely noticeable, but still a scratch, and there's always the chance something worse could happen. Better to just play it safe.GratuitousJedime too. right when i bought my lite, i took extra special care with it. i still do now, just not as much. i got mine in march.
Paranoid would be if it was an unrealistic fear of scratching it. There's nothing paranoid about getting a screen protector. Also I'm guessing those people who make the 'if you're under 10' comments... are probably 11 or 12.mtburdell
It is pretty unrealistic IMO. As long as you use the screen as you should be you won't scratch it. I don't have a mark on mine, I've had the Lite since launch, no screen protector.Â

Unfortunately the DS touch screen does get scratched from normal use. I really take great care of it and yet there's a small scratch on it, my sister also has some scratches. However these scratches are only visible under specific lighting conditions.

Then why even bother protecting it if you can't see them. I don't have any of the scratches at all and I use the touchscreen quite a lot.Â

Well, I don't use screen protectors. But taking into account the fact that the average DS owner would treat its DS a lot worse than I do, the scratches can become worse too and as such screen protectors might be desirable.
