I will spare you my story/whining and get down to brass taxes.

I believe the c-stick is cheap if used excessively (which usually happens 9/10 times from what ive seen)

IMO, its a handicap that should only be used by begginners.

I HAVE NEVER USED IT AND NEVER WILL. To me, the C-stick has always been an empty space on my controller.

So what are your thoughts on the C-stick?

well first off, lulz @ your funny yet highly fake story

second, seeing as how the c stick is just a faster way to perform a smash, it could possibly help you more in matches. ariels also become a lot more easier to perform thanks to c sticking.

if you thinks it's cheap then you must not be very good at the game then IMO

Hmm after a while most people realize that c-sticking is just a part of the game, and its not always the best way to win.

Anyhooo, Im not sure if Im a great smash player, I would say Im moderate at most, but my point is that the people I ve seen that use the c-stick use it as if it were an atari joystick. Thats a little too much, then they get touchy when you address it. This might be only in my case though.

No but I know a lot of people that do. In melee, you couldn't use the C-stick in the one player modes, so it was always advantagous to learn to play properly. This doesn't seem like the case in Brawl.

I hate when people say the C stick is bad. If it were then it wouldn't have made into BOTH games. Better yet, Brawl was designed so that we could use it in single player mode just proving the fact it isn't "cheap". It's fully accessible to all players and if one doesn't decide to use it to their advantage, it's their own fault.

This is what I do too. If I need it charged up, I do it using the joystick and A... if not, c-stick.

I wouldn't call it a handicap I'd call it a hindrence. Having to move my thumb away from the buttons for specials and jumps (c-stick would replace smashs but not normal A's) is horrible. its annoying and a pain to use. I don't use it not because I think its cheap but because I think its a pain in the arse. its hard to reach and once you've got it its hard to control. I'd much rather just press the buttons.

I used it to ONLY to smash opponents straight down. For some reason thats the only time it felt easier to use the c-stick. But a couple of days ago the C-stick on my controller broke, (nothing happens when i try to smash), so I have to use down-A to smash opponents into the abyss. I guess after six years my GC controller finaly broke.

I also agree that it's for people who can't comprehend pressing a and moving the joystick in a direction at the same time. I didn't even know you could use the c-stick until about a year after melee was out.

I think I liked the controls and the controllers for the original SSB myself. The one on N64. On that one, there was no such thing as a C-Stick and the only way to do smash attacks was the "proper" way. However, it seems as if Nintendo has been trying to dumb down there games to make them more accessible to "casual" and "non" gamers. On another note... I think the other reason taht they made it so you can always do Smash attacks with the C-Stick in Brawl is because people that play using just the Wii-Mote can seem to do smash attacks easier because they just have to tap the button, not move a joystick.

we must battle then....

and in Melee I NEVER touched the C-stick...calling it a noob tactic. In Brawl.....I use it when my mind is planning my next move and my fingers are about to do that same idea but im under attack.

Example....

Playing online in a Union tournament last week. I main Marth. So the guy dodged into me and I was gonna jump away but flicked the C-stick down to almost kill him, thuus saving me from his own attack since I was at a higher percentage of damage.

Same, if an inexperienced player uses it, I could care less, but when someone whos played it for years and calls himself "a pro brawl player:?" abuses it, its pretty pathetic.

I use the c-stick all the time. It's the fastest way to hyphen smash and the only way to pull off air attacks. Edit: the only way to pull off air attacks well.

Now lets get to the real point: if you are losing to someone that keeps one thumb on the joystick and one on the c-stick (what I would call abuse), it is not they who suck. You should be expecting every move they make. More importantly, the game has dimished knockback, so people that use smashes over and over again aren't going to be getting kills like someone who knows how to play the game properly.

Real men just play with a Wiimote :|

It's really a more efficient way to do uncharged smashes. You can't win against a decent player just by c-stick spamming anyway. Well, atleast not one on one. And if someone claims they're the god of smash just by c-stick spamming on Ike against 3 other players, then just challenge them to a duel to eliminate the randomness.

Same here. I often use the original method too for charged attacks. I can't stand it when people claim the C-stick to be cheap and noobish. They have absolutely no legitimate reason for calling it such names. Not only is the C-stick part of the game, but its quicker and much more effective, especially against the computer.

LOL!!! Sorry but what I know since SSBM is that the use C-stick is for amateurs; so it is cheap... I accept that my 7 years old cousin use it but if you consider that you are a competitive player (high rank) then I assume you do not use it.

Ahhh.. And Sigil, I understand your frustation, it is not fair but your honour is first, so do not use it (C-stick sucks)!!!!!

Actually i abuse the A and B buttons more than the C-stick... The C-stick is part of the controls of the game, theres absolutely nothing wrong with using it, its basically a quick uncharged strong/smash attack. In different situations it is more beneficial while others not so much. I can understand why people would say it is cheap, since some people might be so use to smashing without using it, that they make up rules in their head that its an illegal move to touch the c-stick, but in reality it doesnt work that way at all. I do say though that certain characters have cheap smash attacks (pikachu down smash OMG!) but using the c-stick is simply part of the game now, so get used to it.

Sounds like the scrub mentality at work.

I don't use the most effective way of playing a game because i consider it honorless or cheap.

If people use an effective tactic to win and you are too stupid to not take advantage of it yourself, you only have yourself to blame.

I see this a lot in online games or video games in general. If said thing is really noobish and skilless than maybe it says something about you losing to it all the time.

I don't like using the C-Stick, personally. I prefer analog-A. It's good if you're a newb, but do you see any experienced players using it?

It's kind of like how it's not good for a grown man to drink baby formula; the C-stick is good for when players are just starting out, but once you start to not end up in 4th place on every map, you'll need to get used to Analog-A smash attacks if you want to keep improving.
