Buy, renting for 5 or 6 dollars is just bad
I can't spend 10% or more of a game's price just to play it for a week.

well this site I am using for renting online is 1 game at a time for 9 a month. I figure if I beat a game or 2 a month (depending on the length of the game and how much I get to play) I figure that is better than spending 50 on a game or 2 every month.Â
I buy them... mostly because I like building up my collection.reggie186
But aren't there those times when you look across some of those boxes and think ''why'', I'm big on trading-in games for new ones. Although if there's something I don't like or have played to death but it had something cool about the I'll keep it (like Red Steel, mediocre game but certainly different).

There are definitely some Wii games that I don't enjoy in my collection (Spider-Man 3, Super Swing Golf), but I get a weird sense of security knowing that I have it. In 20 years I can whip out my copy of Spidey 3 and laugh at it with my kids.

there are games I wish I still had (mostly my Dreamcast stuff)Â however a lot of stuff I never do play again. If I can get the same value of entertainment from a game for 9 bucks as I can for 50 then I am saving a lot of money as the games that fit this bill stack up. More power to you on collecting though.Â
I buy all my games. For me it's a waste of time renting however I do understand why a lot of people do it.angelfly
I was beginning to second guess myself, with me being 11 to 0 lol
I only buy the like.. key games, althought i have already made stupid purchases(Marvel:ultimate alliance, and DBZ:BT2 i regret. DBZ:BT2 is a good game, but im not a fan of the series so i got bored of it quickly).
But ive been renting a lot of games. - I rent games because i dont want to make the same mistake i made last gen, buying games i ended up either hating, or finished too quickly.Â
I haven't rented a game since blockbuster gimped the gamer's freedom deal they had a few years back
i kinda "rent" from gamestop/EB, i buy a used game, beat it within 7 days, return for full store credit (I kinda rotate stores so the guys don't get too pissed at me, lol)Â
I ALWAYS rent before I buy. What is the point on just buying a game blindly? I always rent it, and if I like it, pay the rest of the price and get the game. Blockbuster lets you do that you know...kukukuk
Then you're buying a used game.
Some people avoid that

Whats wrong with used games?Â

I do, if i'm gonna pay near full price for a game, I want it new and shrink wrappedÂ

Well for one thing you aren't supporting the developer by buying used games.
Always good to do that. Â

Well for one thing you aren't supporting the developer by buying used games. And sometimes used games aren't in the best condition or don't have the manual or case depending on where you get it from.
What do you care about supporting the developer? Your a gamer, they're doing the job for you not vice versa. If you get a game thats in bad condition you can take it back anyway.
Its the publisher that gets your money and they recieve that from the store that ships in the product, not by selling it to you :| Dev's only recieve a small royalty regardless because they're already under contract from the publisher that pays their keep.

Well if it is a good game I would want to support the developer so they can make money and continue to make games. Most games now can cost millions to make. I think it is a little egocentric to not support a company if they make a game, especially if it is a decent game.

But a developer needs a publisher to get their game out there. So you should try to support the publisher as well. And in the end a developer/publisher just wants to make money. If they make more money one console then an other then they will make more games for the console, so in affect we will get more, and better games if you buy new games.
Your money goes to the publisher and that comes from the retailer to begin with. There is nothing wrong with used games, in fact they increase game sales because a lot of people don't think video games are worth their sticker price brand new.
tomarlyn
Publisher only recieve money for the games they send out to the retailers. They don't get it for each game the retailer sells. That is why placed like Gamestop are so eager to get you used games because they get all the profit. And most developers/publishers don't like used games. Many have stated their dislike of them before.Â

I've rented 14 wii games but only bought 4.
i beat every game (except the party games) i rented before i returned them to the store. Most of them i beat in 2 days. i'm very happy i saved 40 bucks.
I buy them. In fact, I have not rented one Wii game yet. Although that will change. The games that I plan to rent are either games that I don't know if I'll like, such as Brain Academy, and games that are supposed to be really short, like WarioWare. But like Reggie said, I like building up a collection, especially with the Wii.

Bad idea you'll probably traumatize them for life. :Pafter i buy my freinds PSP, and a few new games. i plan on buying 3 Wii games for the rest of the year, and the rest being rentals. or not, because i plan on finishing every game i own, by the end of the year.
the three wii games are Strikers, Prime, Brawl.
I just buy. I haven't rented in years...
If I'm curious about a game and have heard decent things about it I'll buy it. Even if it turns out to be not so great it'll sit on my shelf with the rest of my collection and chances are in a few years I'll dig it out and find it to be much better than I initially thought.Â
