Do you like DS games that use the Stylus a lot or are Stylus-only?

For me, I honestly don't even though I still play them. I guess it's because of the touch screen and I'm worried about scratching or ruining it. Some DS games make you use the stylus like crazy on the screen like the Track & Field game or Rub Rabbits. I can never play these games. The stylus controls the developers put in the game is too insane. I can't play these without worrying about my screen.

But then there are some games that use the stylus but aren't really to bad on the touch screen. Like the new Zelda game and games like Planet Puzzle League. Still, I prefer using the d-pad and traditional controls with stylus controls only for certain gameplay elements.

Anyway, what about you guys?

I prefer Stylus-only controls because they fully use what the DS has to offer to produce great results. Of course there are some examples out there of games that only had touch-screen controls implemented for the sake of having them, but Stylus-only games are unbeatable when done right. That is it, as long as the controls fit the game, if they don't them I have no problem with more traditional controls.

I don't mind the stylus when just selecting something or being able to gently tap the screen here and there, but I'm not a big fan of stylus-heavy combat and mini-game activities. My screen has gotten pretty yucked up from playing Chibi Robo and The World Ends with You. Love the games, but really dislike the stylus dependency for everything.

I'm odd. I use the stylus only when required and prefer to use the buttons most of the time. I never worry about my screen though when I'm playing Rhythm Heaven or Trauma Center though...

It depends on the kind of game. RPGs should be styluc-optionial but certain games, examples would be Rhythm Heaven and Nintendogs, should be stylus-only.

I like just about all DS games though so it doesn't matter to me, as long as I don't feel like I'm playing a GBA game. x3;;

Using the stylus can be annoying, at least for me. If it's a stylus-only game then it's fine, but if it's part stylus part buttons then getting out the stylus and putting it away constantly can get tedious. Maybe it's just because I'm lazy.

Depends on the game. Puzzle and adventure games in general are better with the stylus (it's hard to go back to standard controls after using the stylus in Planet Puzzle League). On the other hand, a game like Starfox Command would have been great with the pad and buttons. Zelda games would be better with the pad and buttons, even though the stylus controls work well enough.

I like games that have it as optional or use it to navigate the menus. Although I love stylus only games such as Trauma Center.

That's why I haven't got the DS yet. I'm too scared that it'd get scratched up a after a while. It should be made of glass or something. I had a Palm Tungsten back in HS, and wow, after a while, w/o a screen protector, the screen is wickedly scratched. I'm sure it'll happen, I have a good feeling the next Nintendo handheld will feature a multitouch glass screen or something.

psst. screen protectors by hori are amazing. it does have two bulit in screen protectors, but if those get scratched it's the same as your screen getting scratched.

I love them, but they are annoying when you're playing them in a car, or a bus (Atleast on bumpy roads).

Phantom Hourglass, Spirit Tracks, and Skate It were all amazing.

Depends on the game. By biggest beef is with Phantom Hourglass. There are so many times when I play that game that I wish I could just use the d-pad.

yes... i prefer most games utilize the touch screen more... but as stated they can get quite annoying on a bumpy ride.... a while ago i was playing ST on a car and i didn't get to read what the Goron was saying because i accidentally touched it because of those wretched bumps...

I'm game for both. Whether it's mostly D-Pad + buttons, are mostly stylus, it doesn't affect my enjoyment. Wrist got a little tired after a couple of hours with Phantom Hourglass though, heh. But it's all good.

Depends on the games really.

I love the Trauma Center games but didn't like how Phantom Hourglass controled.

I think I really like games that couldn't work without the stylus but when I could just as easily press a button I prefer that.

Depend on what game. I like both stylus or non-stylus games.

Right now I fully intend to upgrade to the DSi XL when it's released in the spring, so I'm playing the heck out of my touch screen with no worries. Now when I get the new one in the spring, I might have to reconsider getting stylus-intense games. But probably not.

I used to be scared of using the touch screen as well when I played on my DS phat. But ever since i got a dsi, ive been playing more games that involve the touch screen (DSi touch screens seems more durable and less likely to scratch than the DS phat).

what winds me up the most are games that can be played without the stylus. Then all we got is a slightly supped up Gameboy game. not gonna use stylus, don't make the game - my motto. Pokemon platinum is a BIG one for me, they copped out on stylus play BADLY.
