I play casually now. I still enjoy competitive, but i prefer a more relaxing experience day to day.

I prefer casually, competitively is too stressful. I like playing competitive games, like Splatoon or Smash, but I just have fun playing, doesn't bother me if I lose.

Casual because winning competitively doesn't really mean anything or hold any true value.

^Agreed.

I don't get any satisfaction at beating someone in a game. It's just a video game. They're not important enough to me to be competitive at.

^ Seems abit silly, games are competitive by nature.

Sports are just games.

anyway. a mix.

Unless the game involves competing against multiple CPU opponents (Mario Kart), I often prefer to play causually.

I'm from a time it was only playing games it wasn't seperated as hardcore and casual. you played game or not.

So I play games because, I like it and at my own pace and never online because I don't give a **** about that.

Neither? If I like a game, I get REALLY into it, so I couldn't really label my preference as casual, but I generally don't enjoy competitive games.

Sports are satisfying because they are a team game, they are for a college, or city, and they are a healthy activity. Contrast that with "owning" some random person on the internet, and the comparison is silly and trite.

Even with MLG, 99% of the population, including gamers, will never know who those players are, and never make that kind of money from it.

Sports are satisfying because they require no special cirumstances, so learning curve ... you just watch what humans have been able to do since the dawn of time, just faster and faster/more skilled. Its easy watching. not that I disagree with anything said, other than the "Team" part, as MOBAS are heavily team based.

Nobody ever remembers chess champions either. yet I have to put up with people hyping up friggin DARTS ... DARTS. "oh look he threw it at the same part of the board 3 times in a row, so exciting".

nevermind the fact that 99.9% of people that play sports are just out to "own other people" and have fun doing it, nothing different whatsoever... just one is far more accessible and ingrained in 1000s of years of social norms. Popularity aint the arguement here anyway. a game is a game, others are just more glorified than others.

I couldn't care less if my countries team won a game.... it means nothing other than people thinking their country is now somehow "amazing".. meanwhile those watching are probably more unhealthy than gamers (pub crawling pricks) (exagurating here.)

@MBirdy88: All true, but who will remember MBirdy88's glory in the game realm vs Michael Jordan's exploits?

True enough, but sadly that is true for 99.9% of us in any field :( oh well.

Mostly I tend to play casually, though I try to play seriously when I do play a game. However

When it comes to a game like war thunder, I do not like leaving the fight without at least making a few kills, so in that aspect, I guess I'm still serious but casual. I don't really care if I don't make the top of the team, but I do want to leave my all on the field of battle. Yes, a top three, or even first place feels great, but to me it isn't the end of the world when it doesn't happen.
