Tell him just to save up for a 360. It'll be worth it in the end. He'll get the best of both worlds: SMG, SSBB, MK, ZaW, Halo, GoW, Assassin's Creed, Bioshock, Mass Effect, and many more for both consoles.
His system, his choice. It honestly shouldn't concern you how he spends his money (unless its something illegal >_>)

Even then it's not really his concern. Anyway - if it were me, I would say that's a foolish choice if he is doing is SOLELY for Halo 3. Overall though, if he isn't playing his Wii that much and feels that he would game more with the 360, then more power to him. It's a great system in its own right. If it were me though...I'd wait until I could get my hands on one of the new 360s coming out that don't run the risk of the red ring of death. That's just me.
I did the same. I will never regret my choice. All the amazing Xbix 360 games out right now, downloadable demos, and other things.

I'm looking at it this way: If his friend likes Halo, he probably will like Gears of War, Call of Duty 4, Mass Effect, Bioshock, and all of the other FPS's on the 360.
Not stupid. Just misinformed. Thing is, when I played Halo 3 at LAN paries and such, I found the game to be the exact same thing as the first two. They might as well have gone the Half-Life way and called them Halo: Episode 1, and Episode 2. I could see someone buying an Xbox 360 just Gears of War, or just for BioShock, or just for Mass Effect, or just for Oblivion. Those are all great new and inventive games. Halo? It's not. It's an HD rehash with some new maps and weapons.

ummm who cares man ... i mean if u have a wii thats fine u have ur wii .. but ifur useing him for his system wth. you have a 360 to play with now . I wouldnt mind getting a 360 but i would keep my wii . the 360 has alot of good games out now and at a really decent price almost as much as the Wii so i think hed be getting a bargin if ne thing : better graphics and power / more games .
Yes, he's stupid. As for me, only Eternal Sonata and Blue Dragon were the only games I want to play on the 360. I heard that Blue Dragon sucked and now Eternal Sonata will be on PS3 with more features. Halo and Gear of War are really boring. However, I didn't play on Bioshock but I would play it on PC. I don't think it's worth. I really think the 360 is the most overrated system for me.
I already want or interested on 17 Wii games and I support everything on it. I will not sell my Wii.

its his money, halo 3 is a freaking awesome game, you can actually relax while playing xbox, wiii you have to stand up and be a moron, waving your hands around like you are a looney or something. and if you havent played halo 3, you are a moron and i hate you if you have anyting against the halo series, except for halo 2, the campaign sucked.

i think he is stupid Halo 3 is not worth buying the 360 for when you can finish it in just over a day on legendary (well i did anyway) now if he also wanted to get GoW, Obilivion, Bioshock etc..., and he wasn't interested in anything elce the wii has or is going to offer then it is a good idea fortunatly for me i dont have to make that choice couse i have all three, but i would say don't do it if he just wants halo3, do do it if he want's alot of the other games that are out/coming out for it and he dosn't want any of the wii games that are coming out
If it's just for Halo 3, that is dumb. But if you're looking at all the good games available for the 360 right now, you'd realize it's owning the Wii and PS3. And I'm not talking about sales.
Halo's overrated and overhyped in my opinion... but maybe it's just me? I just REALLY don't think Halo deserves all the publicity it's received. I mean, honestly, a Halo 3 soda called gamefuel?! GameFOOL is more like it!
It's his choice of where he should spend his money. In my opinion, it's not smart to get any console for one game alone. But if he wants it that much, then whatever. Besides, Halo 3 has a lot of replay value so it'll probably be worth it years from now if he stills play it.

Totally agree with you, i'll get a 360 the next year and have the best in the industry in both sides (Nintendo and Microsoft) get galaxy, brawl, kart, devil my cry, bioshock, RE5, etc. Nothing is better than this.
