Nintendo should have made a totally new standard controller as well as the Wii remote. One that would be compatible with GC, VC and Wii games, and ditching the cIassic controller idea. I think that would have been the best option, considering some people love the unique Wii controls, and some people hate it.
GC controller support is great, as long as the normal control scheme is used properly as well. It should be an alternative and only that, meaning developers should concentrate on making the best experience for the game with the proper Wii controls before adding GC support.
So yeah I'll always like support for the controller, but when developers do that instead of maximizing the potential of the Wii controls it can get frustrating.
i like how in some games there is different ways to play. ie SSBB where there is 4 choices for gameply. Most games should have that support. Only down side to gamecube pad is that if you dont have a wireless one you have to play right by the wii. Jesteroflies
It would be just like playing a Gamecube. Its not like you have to sit horribly close.......unless you have a 65" TV...then it gets kinda harsh
I don't think they should. MAybe a few games having multiple control schemes, but 3rd parties should not just port a game from one system to the wii, slap on some motion contols that only work half the time. i bought a wii because of the inovative way to play games, not so i can play a gamecube again. Yea, maybe some games work better with a game pad, Brawl, but MP3 was WAY BETTER using the wiimote. if only 3rd parties would spend time on wii games and not just ports.
No, if you want a standard controller pick another console
The way to make devs embrace the Wii is to make them concentrate on the Wiimote and Chuck and then if they want to add other methods to control the game. It doesn't have to be motion but it does have to be Wiimote and Chuck enabled.
Do you think that some Wii games should have optional Gamecube controller supportbraindead_hero
No [...] It doesn't have to be motion but it does have to be Wiimote and Chuck enabled.JaysonguyWouldn't that mean you're answering "yes" to question?

No, because it doesn't need Gamecube support if non motion enabled games can be controlled with the Wiimote and Chuck.
MLB Power Pros and Smash Bros both control remarkably well with the Wiimote and Chuck even though you're not using motion controls.
The idea is to force devs to utilize the Wiimote and Chuck no matter what. Even if games don't have motion devs have to learn how to make the control schemes fit the Wii's controller. Not take the cheap way out and just default to the Gamecube controller.
