Do you think this year the Wii will be able to top it's 2008 line-up?
I'm honestly not sure. What do you think?
2008 was a good year for Wii owners. IDK if they can top themselves this year.

Unlike what people say 2008 was great (at least for me) i got:
Bully
Chocobo's dungeon
de blob
Guitar Hero: WT
Mario Kart Wii
No More Heroes
Okami
ToS
Wario Land
SSBB
2009 LOOK great but there is so many new ip's that its uncertain how good those game will be.
I don't think it'll be particularly hard - the only three (really) memorable titles in '08 were SSBB, World of Goo and No More Heroes.
Compare that to '07...
There is no way 09 will beat 08 in Q1, and Q2.
Last year there was SSBB, MKwii, Wii fit, Okami, NMH etc.
09 might top 08 if we take the whole year into perspective. but we do not know many titles coming out later this year. so we have to wait and see.

I know it's alot to go through (10 pages!) but check it out, there's some good looking stuff on there.
08 was very bad for wii imo. i didnt buy any new releases. nothing realy looked good to me. i bought ons of pc/360 games tho so i dont think 09 will be as good. for wii it has to be but not overall

um where were you nintendo released a game a month on its own super smash bros brawl mario kart wii wario land shake it wii music animal crossing mario super sluggers dr mario online rx-WII WARE then you have blom box ' mega man 9-wii ware world of goo quantum of solace 007 call of duty world at war and a whole mess of third party titles to work with you want to know the problem it is not that wii doesnt have any hardcore or games that dont feature minigames,, , its that people only care about graphics not the actual gameplay it self, as with the case of call of duty 5 and quantum of solace! or driver paralel lines/manhunt 2 , people complained about the same thing since day one oh it looks like ps2 games etc etc when are we gonna get this or that, im sick of it, it isnt nintendos nor 3rd parties fault you buy the games on other systems thus leading to 3rd party only releasing titles they want on wii ,,[QUOTE="alexh_99"]There is no way 09 will beat 08 in Q1, and Q2.

Someone thought Guitar Hero: WT was memorable... since it sold the most on the Wii.I don't think it'll be particularly hard - the only three (really) memorable titles in '08 were SSBB, World of Goo and No More Heroes.

After looking at how much 2008 had I will will say there is no chance at all that 2009 does better
No chance at all that ANY year does better then 2008 going forwards

Every year the Wii has gotten progressively better, minus the holiday of 2008 which was kind of weak. 2009 looks like it will be better than 2008 was.Haziqonfire
By that quote, it sounds to me that the only year the Wii has seen some significant improvement was '07, and c'mon, exactly how much had to happen for the Wii to be better than two months ('06)? I wouldn't call that proof that better days are ahead this year, but that's just me. Anyways, it seems to me that a lot of you are sorely underestimating what happened last year. Exactly how are we measuring success here? From my view, the only two ways you can do that are by the number of quality games and by how well a system does in that year. Are far as the quality of games go, while I think we can all agree that the last half of '08 was pretty weak, the first half started off very strong. Heck, we saw Super Smash Bros. Brawl and Mario Kart Wii within the span of about a month! I don't see any two games from what has been mentioned this year even beating that lineup, not to mention when I add games like Wii Fit, No More Heroes, and Okami into the mix.
The second way to measure success of a system, like I said, is simply how well a system performed that year saleswise. The Wii is coming off the best year any system has EVER had, and it was thanks to a lineup that managed to appeal to gamers of all tastes. Can anyone honestly say that what we've seen this year will allow the Wii to top what it did last year? Is House of the Dead Overkill going to outsell Wii Fit? Highly unlikely. Are Madworld or The Conduit going to top Brawl? Heck, both games would be lucky to scratch a million, if you ask me. By the way, it's a sad day when people are looking up to Sega, of all companies, to save a system. Once again, not that I think the Wii needs saving, but that seems to be the vibe around here. I digress. The main point here is that I don't see the Wii outdoing last year by any stretch of the imagination this year, and I can be rather optimistic at times.
I think the 2009 line-up will be better than 2008 because of the AMOUNT of diversity spread out throughout the year. There will be a muchmore STEADY set of releases during the year. There are many notable titles coming from Sega, and there will be titles for the holidays that we will not have heard about yet. Nintendo will have games for both upstream and downstreamconsumers, so it won't seem like one side is being catered to more than the other like last year.
Don't forget all the other downstream games being made by EA and a whole bunch of other devs/publishers. Support for the Wii is coming in. The line-up for the Wii in Japan is especially interesting, with Monster Hunter 3 Tri- and Final Fantasy games. The Wii, to me, has a more appealing line-up than last year because of the dearth of titles coming out this year, possibly outperforming that of the other systems.
No chance at all
The next great Wii title is waiting to get made

its like, what you're saying is fair and reasonable. its your opinion thats ok. it may or may not differ from mine, or the majority of users, or mankind
but because you are so negative all the time jasonguy, everything you type sounds like a direct attempt to start an arguement
because, you're statement, implies that the next great Wii game is waiting to be made, implies that Monster Hunter 3, Fatal Frame IV, Final Fantasy Crystal Beaers, Madworld, The Conduit, Sin and Punishment 2, Punch Out, Cursed Mountain, No More Heroes 2, Tales of (new one in 2009), Dragon Quest 10, Fragile, Rune Factory Frontier, Sam and Max Season 2, Deadley Creatures, Spore Hero, Little Kings Story, Final Fantasy Crystal Defenders, Final Fantasy Echoes of Time, Klonoa: Door to Phantomile, Disaster: Day of Crisis, Lit, House of the Dead Overkill, Sonic and the Black Knight, Pole's Big Adventure, Call of Duty 6, any new Guitar Hero, any new Rock Band, Valhalla Knights: Elder Saga, Red Steel 2, Trace Memory Wii, Dynamic Slash, Cosmic Walker will all be not good games to you
thats the message i get jasonguy, and i'm sure you'll stand by it because i'm sure you believe it
and knowing you really don't believe anything positive about the Wii in 2009, then i ask you, why are you gaming on Wii or why are you gaming in general or even coming to these forums?
why aren't you ever talking about "hey dude i played X game, man that part where that thing happened was awesome!"
its always a fight. why. i'm sorry to sound rude, i know thats how i'm going to come across but why are you here? what motivates you and honestly what video games have you enjoyed in the last year on, any game system.

All those games you listed will not beat three of 2008's titles when all is said and done
The Wii got it's three strongest titles in 2008 and each one has legs. There is no chance at all that 2008 gets beaten, ever.
I don't waste people's time talking about what I'm playing, that's why we have blogs and the off topic lounge

Great Avatar RIP Lou Dog:(
But back on topic, I thought 2008 was a good year with SSBB, NMH, Okami, Wario, Call of Duty, Mario Kart, Animal Crossing etc.
but I am more excited about 09'; new IP such as The Conduit, Mad World, LKS, Deadly Creatures as well as a wealth of RPG's and niche titles on top of established franchises such as Final Fantasy: CC, DQ, De Blob (applies to 08' also), Dead Rising (to a lesser extent), House of the Dead etc. and then there's the assured to be announced Nintendo titles...
09' is looking very promisingI reckon 09 has a better line up of games. However, it's missing those classic Wii games like SSBB and Mario Kart.AsianXPrideWho knows, 09 could have F-Zero, Kirby, Pikmin, Donkey Kong, Star Fox, and/or Kid Icarus. If all we got were F-Zero and Pikmin, it'd be a stronger year (first party Nintendo) for me than 08. In addition, we could have a true Paper Mario sequel coming out soon. But, we really have no idea what Nintendo has planned for this year other than Wiimote+ with a new Wii Sports game. Well, I guess we know they'll be re-releasing GC games, but that doesn't count.
