I've looked for threads, and posts on this subject and couldnt find any.

I'm not asking if this has been announced, because i looked for that too. This is for discussion of a price drop possibility.

I hope more than believe that there will be a price drop this holiday season, as i am [always] short on cash, and i am still the only one of my friends to not have wii.

Don't expect a price drop until Christmas, 2008.

The Wii is the lowest-priced console of the 3, and it's selling like hotcakes. Why would they drop the price?

Nintendo won't drop the price unless demand dries up.  That won't happen for a while.  I suspect that the Wii, like the PSP, won't get a price until at least 2 years after it launched.  That would put a price drop around the end of 2008 or the beginning of 2009.  Have fun waiting.  The only console that needs a price drop now is the PS3!

using that logic, wouldn't the wii take longer than psp to drop in price?  cuz like...wii has already sold more units than psp, no? lol :(

Sony refused to cut the price down on the psp for a long time since it would have been seen as admitting that the psp sales sucked. Instead they tried every dumb ass bundle known to man.

Wii if it continues to sell at current levels will not likely see a price drop for two years. They may have bundle offers or special edition wiis for sale like they do with the DS however.

I said at least!  Besides, you don't know if the demand will continue.  There are almost no games out yet, which is why I haven't.  Judging by the latest releases from Nintendo and others like Mortal Kombat and Mario Party 8, the Wii isn't producing good graphics at all.  I think if they don't improve the graphics, and offer decent online play, and get some games out there, that the demand might dry up sooner.  Manhunt 2 (of all games) might draw interest, at least judging by the preview I read at IGN.com.

Isn't there supposed to be a DVD compatable + more memory version of the Wii coming out Christmas 07? Either they will make the price of the new one higher, or the old one lower. So it's possible.

A model with DVD playback was confirmed awhile back (I don't believe they ever mentioned more memory). Assuming that's still in the works, it was stated that it would be priced higher than the standard model.

Absolutely not. Price drops are usually made in order to move consoles. Wii is selling just fine at its current price.
