I've been pushing this idea for months.
I hateclosed minded people who give you straight "What a bad idea" bullsh** replies.
Stop and actually think about it for a second.
Mario and the rest are beating the crap out of eachother. Nintendo made a brilliantly original beat em' up.
Can you not imagine what they could potentialy do with an FPS or Third person shooter?
Breathe new life into a stale type of game, maybe?
Having a Paintball theme is just way of letting them do this without it being violent

I'd love for Nintendo to do something about a real FPS or TPS, but they can do it without Mario. I'd rather them make a new IP for it than just do another Mario game and have it limited to that audience. Just imagine what EAD, not Retro, could do with a FPS game. It'd be something phenomenal.

I'm not saying it's a bad idea(probably be fun), but Nintendo would never develop a Mario Paintball game since paintball isn't a mainstream sport.

We all want new ip's :D, so I can agree with you there.
But I'd still love to see a game like this.
I dunno, I can't stop thinkin about the possibilties, with Smash Brothers and Mariokart type power ups.
Oh well. :(
I actually think it's a great idea. The mario face will make less-than "hardcore" gamers pick it up. If the controls are tight, "hardcore" gamers will definitely pick it up. Paintball gives it a non-violent premise that'll rest easy with parents and casuals gamers. Vets will be pleased with the feel if it's outstanding. Think about the possible characters and how their unique personalities would translate to special abilities. I'm diggin' it...

Good points. Personally, I'd like to see it. At the very least, it would be a great idea for part of a Wii Sports 2.
Who knows? A few years ago I didn't think Nintendo's next console would have innovative motion controls. I didn't even think it would be a big hit, and I'm a fanboy!
A Mario FPS doesn't seem right to me, even if it's just paintball. Something about the image of Mario holding a gun, aiming it at Peach's face...nah, I don't think it would fly. Give it to Sonic and crew. Hell, Shadow's already packing!
I thought of that a couple years ago and I created a thread that actually got like 20 or 30 pages of people who wanted the game....I had the whole story planned out and everything...but it eventually got locked and I got mad at gamespot...
ohh well
