Hey guys, We all know the Wii U will be out sometime this year and I can't wait for it. However I want some good launch titles for the Wii U. I bought the 3ds at launch and it was alright but lacked good games. Do you guys think Resident evil 6 and grand theft auto 5 will be included in the wii U launch of games.?

While I don't know the answer, I believe Yes to Resident Evil 6 as a launch title and no to GTA V. I only say no to GTA V because I don't believe it will launch this year for anything. I'm expecting March/April'2013 for it, including a WiiU release.

if resi 6 is a launch title I will be dumbfounded. granted the trailer makes it look like it was designed with the wiiu in mind (come on, sliding and shooting at the same time? perfect for the controller.), but I doubt capcom likes money enough to actually do something about it.

I doubt GTA V is coming out this year. RE6, I get the feeling that it will come out for the PS3/360 first and then later come out for the Wii U.

GTAV probably won't be out until 2013. There's a slim chance RE6 will be a Wii U launch title, but it's more likely to be a belated port.

I would have to agree. I see the RE6 getting delayed releases on the PC and WiiU. But I hope I am wrong.

GTA, maybe. As someone on this board said once, dont remember who, Capcom would port a game to a watch if they could, so you can guarantee that it will hit the Wii U :P

I'm guessing they will both be on the WiiU, whether they are launch titles depends on when their releases are.

lol I said that, I remember because I said, they would port to my watch and its not even digital :P But yeah, that's Capcom for you, they will put a game anywhere, that will even remotely support it. It doesn't have to run it well, it just has to run it. Though luckily in the case of the Wii U, I'm sure it will run it just fine.

I think that there's a chance for completely new RE for Wii U or another remake. Not sure about GTA but I woudn't count on it.

RE6 seems likely, because its lol Capcom. But I honestly would prefer to see a WiiU entry in the vein of Revelations, because RE6 looks just as awful as 5 quite frankly.

Not seeing why GTA5 wouldn't come to the WiiU whenever it's released. Rockstar supported the Wii and DS...

The thing with the boomerang controller? Didn't know they had RE4 on that lol. Capcom proved how far they go to push something on hardware, when they attempted to stuff RE on the Game Boy Color. The very concept was ridiculous.

Rockstar likes to let one major game carry their entire fiscal year, and this year that game will be Max Payne 3 much like LA Noire did it in 2011, Red Dead in 2010. So no GTA V simply coz it won't be out until 2013 Though if Nintendo can get third parties on board we could see the Wii U launch with Call of Duty Black Ops 2, Assassin's Creed 3 (rumored, not announced for Wii U), Borderlands 2 (once again, not announced for Wii U) and Resident Evil 6 (not announced for Wii U) at launch. Can you imagine that? I think that would be pretty cool to launch with that much, (even if multi-platform) third party support

i think nintendo learned a lesson with 3ds launch. no decent 1st party games, no sales. Wii had decent launch lineup...even though looking back red steel is terrible compared to how far Wii has come. but i think Wii U will have a launch mario, and maybe even a metroid or zelda to go along with a bunch of great 3rd party games.

That's unrealistic. That NSMB Mii thing, maybe, but there definitely wont be a Zelda game and Metroid isn't that big of a franchise. My first guess is that Pikmin 3 is their launch game along with a pack in and maybe a sequel to DKCR, that was huge.

GTA could go either way, have no idea.

I think it's very likely Capcom will port RE6 given their relationship with Nintendo, it's one of the big E3 surprises.

Well, I think RE6 might come on Wii U given Capcom's warm relations with Nintendo. As for GTA - Rockstar have proven with Chinatown Wars that they have no problems bringing GTA over to Nintendo platforms but it's a question if Nintendo wants GTA V on Wii U given their "family friendly" image and history of censorship attempts.

What I believe is that Nintendo should encourage 3rd parties to bring their games over to the Wii U (especially in the first few years when the install base will yet be growing) as well as abandon any censorship tendencies (they can still ban AO rated games anyway).

If they allowed GTA on the DS I can't think of any reason why they wouldn't allow it on the Wii U. What "censorship tendencies" are you referring to?

Maybe they would but they might want Rockstar to censor some parts of the game. It's not just a violent game but also controversial in other aspects as well.

nintendo had manhunt 2 on the wii. the only reason it was censored was because of ESRB rating it AO. and then there's stuff like madworld and no more heroes, not to mention shooters. GTA V has no reason to be kept from the wii.

that game is very blatantly offensive against the christian religion. and if OT has taught me anything, is that you should avoid any and all religious controversies at any cost.

N64 got a port of RE2, still considered one of the greatest feats in porting history given the limited storage size of the N64 cart. Gamecube saw a remake of RE1, a rebuild from N64 to the final version of RE0, and RE4. All exclusives (RE4 was exclusive for a few months). Not to mention it also saw ports of RE2 and RE3. The Wii has seen two exclusives in the RE series, as well as a port of RE1, RE0, and the definitive version of RE4. DS got a port of RE1. 3DS has two exclusives already and interviews have hinted that we can expect more in the system's lifespan.

Somehow I don't think Capcom is against putting as many Resident Evil games on as many Nintendo systems as they possibly can.

That said, it's sort of strange that the trailer didn't include Wii U in the system list. In my opinion, they'll announce it at E3 or it isn't happening. But personally, I think it is.

I think of it like this..... Assasin's Creed 3 is advertised with posters that only say "Xbox 360, PS3" right now. So is the same with Resident Evil 6.

It's been CONFIRMED that Assasin's Creed 3 will be on Wii U. So i'm taking it like this.... Nintendo doesn't want anyone to say ANYTHING, or advertise anything big about Wii U, uintil they do it until E3!

So since the AC3 posters don't say "Wii U" yet, but it's been officially confirmed for Wii U, I would hope that RE 6 is going to be on it! Considering Nintendo and Resident Evil are good friends ;P

In short though, I would be HUGLY shocked if RE 6 was NOt on Wii U, and I would not doubt at all that GTA V is going to be on Wii U ;)

Why are people clamoring to play last generation games on a next generation system? If Nintendo is going to sell me on Wii U, it is going to need something other than games that will already be out everwhere else.

While that is true, are you really going to blow $300 or so to play games that can be played on a cheaper system? The Wii U's first years seems like it will similar to the Xbox 360. Most of the games coming out in its first year will be last generation games with a few actual next generation games sprinkled here and there. Hopefully I am wrong by the time E3 rolls around. All we know for certain is that Darksiders 2, Ninja Gaiden 3, Tekken Tag Tournament 2, Batman Arkham City, and Pikmin 3 are coming to Wii U. I am sure Call of Duty will make it out for the system as well. Unless Nintendo has a game by Retro, or some other big announcement, then there is nothing to get excited for. No one knows what the controller does, and no one knows how well developers will use it. The controller probably will not be used very well at launch. Developers struggled with using the stylus at the DS launch, the 3D at the 3DS launch, and the touch panels at the Vita launch. The same will probably apply to Nintendo's next system.

I am avid Nintendo fan, but the company will need more than multiplats of last generation games and the potential of a controller to win me over.

Totally agree. When Wii was coming out, were people like "OMG hope it gets PS2 games :D" I sure hope not... WiiU should launch with it's own next gen games.

I am not saying Nintendo should not get multiplatform games, I just do not want six month to year old titles being the bulk of software available. This happened with the Wii as well. Zelda, Warioware and Paper Mario made up Nintendo's first half of 2007. Most of the other games were ports from last generation like Mortal Kombat Armageddon, Prince of Persia and The Two Thrones (renamed), and so on. It would be cool if Nintendo put out Pikmin 3, a new IP, and Wave Race. Mario and Zelda will not be ready for launch. Metroid possibly could be, but Nintendo should hold on that one until the company figures out what it wants to do with the franchise.

Why are people clamoring to play last generation games on a next generation system? If Nintendo is going to sell me on Wii U, it is going to need something other than games that will already be out everwhere else.

Because up until now, Nintendo was missing out on all of the multiplats, which was the Wii's biggest problem.

Yes, it needs exclusives and Nintendo IPs, but it needs multiplats just as badly. GTA5 and RE6 should be releasing reasonably close the Wii U's launch. For it not to have them would be a bad sign for the system's future.

Maybe they would but they might want Rockstar to censor some parts of the game. It's not just a violent game but also controversial in other aspects as well.

nameless12345

nintendo had manhunt 2 on the wii. the only reason it was censored was because of ESRB rating it AO. and then there's stuff like madworld and no more heroes, not to mention shooters. GTA V has no reason to be kept from the wii.

Then again they denied The Binding of Isaac a release on the 3DS due to "religious themes".

Yes, but that's entirely different. It wasn't because they didn't like the message but more because of the PR **** storm it could bring.

[QUOTE="garrett_duffman"]if resi 6 is a launch title I will be dumbfounded. granted the trailer makes it look like it was designed with the wiiu in mind (come on, sliding and shooting at the same time? perfect for the controller.), but I doubt capcom likes money enough to actually do something about it.MrDziekuje

The only nitnendo-exclusive RE games are zero REmake, mercs, and revelations. the chronicles series is being ported to the PSN, and all of the other games have been re-released for pretty much every system that ever existed on the face of the planet. mercs is barely even a game, and "revelaitons" will probably be ported to the vita in a few years, because capcom loves kicking horses. regardless, I don't see how this is even a pertinent argument to what I said previously.

MangaPicture

I don't get the hate for RE5. Is it because it was more of an action game and not a survival horror game? Or is it just one of those "I hate it because it was popular" things? I agree I would LOVE to see the series get back to the survival horror roots, but RE5 was a good, fun game. Maybe it didn't seem like a "Resident Evil" game, but it was still awesome.

Anyways, I can almost guarantee that if both games can be ported to WiiU (hint; they can), they will be at some point. More systems=more sales=more $$$$. Launch? Maybe not. The only thing I could see stopping them being ported is if they WiiU sales are absolutely abysmal. And even probably then... because ports are low-cost, low-risk ventures.

No, because GTA5 is made by Rockstar North and last I checked, they aren't in good with Nintendo terms after what happened with Body Harvest.

GTA, maybe. As someone on this board said once, dont remember who, Capcom would port a game to a watch if they could, so you can guarantee that it will hit the Wii U :P

BrunoBRS

lol I said that, I remember because I said, they would port to my watch and its not even digital :P But yeah, that's Capcom for you, they will put a game anywhere, that will even remotely support it. It doesn't have to run it well, it just has to run it. Though luckily in the case of the Wii U, I'm sure it will run it just fine.

capcom has RE4 on zeebo. don't know what a zeebo is? google it.

Someone that knows what a Zeebo is, wtf.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pYAwupPdY0k- the sound of them dieing is hilarious.
