Why are people clamoring to play last generation games on a next generation system? If Nintendo is going to sell me on Wii U, it is going to need something other than games that will already be out everwhere else.

Because up until now, Nintendo was missing out on all of the multiplats, which was the Wii's biggest problem. While that is true, are you really going to blow $300 or so to play games that can be played on a cheaper system? The Wii U's first years seems like it will similar to the Xbox 360. Most of the games coming out in its first year will be last generation games with a few actual next generation games sprinkled here and there. Hopefully I am wrong by the time E3 rolls around. All we know for certain is that Darksiders 2, Ninja Gaiden 3, Tekken Tag Tournament 2, Batman Arkham City, and Pikmin 3 are coming to Wii U. I am sure Call of Duty will make it out for the system as well. Unless Nintendo has a game by Retro, or some other big announcement, then there is nothing to get excited for. No one knows what the controller does, and no one knows how well developers will use it. The controller probably will not be used very well at launch. Developers struggled with using the stylus at the DS launch, the 3D at the 3DS launch, and the touch panels at the Vita launch. The same will probably apply to Nintendo's next system.
I am avid Nintendo fan, but the company will need more than multiplats of last generation games and the potential of a controller to win me over.
Totally agree. When Wii was coming out, were people like "OMG hope it gets PS2 games :D" I sure hope not... WiiU should launch with it's own next gen games.
