I don't, Anytime I have my wii off it has the red light, I don't know why you would unplug it from the wall, the red light means it is off. I can't see how you would be hurting it.
But I will not break my Wii doing this will I? I dont actually unplug it, I just turn the power switch off at the wall. Speedy454545
No it won't. In fact, most modern electronics (TVs, DVD players, Computers, etc) behave in the exact same way (they don't turn off completely)
It shouldn't break by unplugging it, that would be pretty lame on Nintendo's part if you thought about it. :P "Alright! we're moving to a new place!" -"but wait, I can't unplug my Wii, it'll break!" "hm... I guess we stay here then..." I leave mine off (red light) because I have no need for standby. Leaving the red light on or leaving it on standby is as safe as can be.ZumaJones07
But I plug it out everytime after I use it, not just once.
So if I keep on turning the power switch off everytime after I use it then it wont break?Speedy454545
Ah, misunderstood. Well it's unlikely that it'll break it. Still, there's very little point.
Well see guys, there are 2 risks involved when leaving it in standby mode.
1. Somebody may accidently press the power button and the Wii may be left on all night.
2. If there is a power surge or the power to the house turns off, your Wii may completley break because it was left in standby mode when the surge happened.
Thats why I think its safer for me to just turn the power off, but I hope this is not slowly breaking my Wii.
mine is always on standbyno1nick
same.... since january,.... well atm is not plug bc as my sig said i`m not there so i put it at side... :P
I have my Wii plugged into a power strip as well. I have eleven total devices plugged into the strip, so I turn the whole power strip off every night to conserve a little energy. Like someone else said, most electronic devices still have power running through them even when they're "off." I've heard it described as the device "waiting" to be turned on, so it needs a little power at all times. Cutting off all power to them every night should conserve at least a little energy.
With that said, I'd say it's perfectly safe for you to switch off the power every time you use it. I've never had any problems whatsoever, and I've been turning it off every night since January.
I read an article a while back.
Some people who have left their Wii's in standby mode connected to the internet via a wireless network have had their Wii's overheat to the point of damaging the GPU. It's rare and Nintendo will fix it or replace it for free if it happens, but if it has to be replaced you will not be refunded for your Virtual Console games.
The VC games will get transfered to your new Wii hassle-free.I read an article a while back.

I read someone state that if there is a power surge and your Wii is in standby while this happens then it will break. I have to say from experience that after a storm caused a power surge in my house, my Wii still works at 100% to this day, and the power outage occured back in January.
I'm pretty sure that this is a well built piece of hardware, I wouldn't worry too much about anything bad happening to this thing, unless someone legitimately does something to it.
