well i use the strap about like 1/20 of the time (i'm planning to get the jacket because i got my Wii 2 Decembers ago and maybe get the new wrist strap even though i don't use it)
I use the wrist strap, but the jackets seem excessive. On top of that, if you're using the wii remote in the Guitar Hero controller or the Zapper, it'd be a pain in the butt to take on and off. Plus, they really do look like condoms.
No I don't use them. They are more annoying then they are helpful to me. Most games you don't even have to worry about flinging the Wiimote. I never liked how the Wii Jackets felt and they were a pain to take on and off. The straps are useless for me and I don't like to bother putting it on and it's annoying if it's hanging there and gets in the way so I took them off as well. Both are unnecessary and are just proactive measures by Nintendo so they can't get sued.
I use the jacket because it's soft and easy to hold on to, plus it's too much work to take it off every time my sister puts it on so she can play Wii Sports.
I only use the wrist strap in Madden 08, because that game requires quick movements and the strap gets flung around if I'm not wearing it.
