Depends. When I'm playing Wii games it's standing up in the holder, but when I'm playing GCgames, I put it on its side (because of the short length of GC controllers cords, and because I don't want someone yanking their GC controller and pulling my Wii down.)
I'd prefer it standing(mostly because of the GCN ports on top), but there's no place to put it in my bedroom where it would look nice on its stand. Therefore, I have it on its side, in a little shelf below my TV.
I had my PS2 on its side, I have my 360 on its side, and I'm going to put my Wii on its side. jk, I'll probobly put my Wii standing up cause it looks way cooler like that!
Standing cuz it looks difrent from my PS3 and my Xbox 360 it looks a lil more odd... cuz after all is it is suppose 2 be much MORE UNIQUE THAN THE OTHER CONSOLES. but i have it standen cuz it luukz nex gen!
I keep all my consoles horizontal. 1. I heard that the disc drives and such break down faster if they're standing up* 2. Consoles just look stupid standing up, like they're trying to hard to be different or cool looking.
*and I'm inclined to believe it as all my gaming friends keep their consoles standing up, and theirs always break down, while the only console I've actually had die in my 14 years of gaming was the GC.
If it's a tray loader i.e the xbox or X360 i thinks it's recommended to lay it on it's side to prevent 'droped disc syndrome'
But the Wii and Ps3 with their cool drives i don't think it matters which side you put it on. All my Wii'sare on there side. My ps3 though stands up as it'stoo damn big. X360 is lying about somewhere and the Xbox is of couse on it's side. The rest aren't hooked up.
I don't know why you guys say keeping it on it's side doesn't let air out or whatever, because the fact is that the fan and the air duct where the air comes out isn't on either side of the Wii when it's on it's side. Strange, you guys are.
I used to have it standing up all the time, but ever since I plugged my GC controllers in I put the Wii on it's side, because it looks dog ugly with cords sticking out of the top when standing up.
