Nah...and I think I speak for all of us. They can keep it there....:p
Oh gosh, dumb question. We have a good MH fanbase here, proven by Tri. Please bring those games over here...then again it's Capcom. -.-
Okay, this seems as good a topic as any to ask: can anyone give me a quick rundown on what Monster Hunter IS? I mean, I've seen the titles in the store, but I always just wrote them off as a more lifelike Pokemon. Is it an action game? An rpg? Action-rpg? Do you hunt monsters to slay, or do you capture and train them? I saw that trailer for Monster Hunter 4 at the end of the 3ds conference and it got me interested. Thanks in advance.El_Zo1212oIt is a mission-based action-RPG with a heavy focus on cooperative play. Some of missions and monsters are so difficult it pretty much seems like you need a team of 4 to bring them down. (You capture or slay monsters, though there are a variety of different objectives, depending on the mission.) The RPG elements are in upgrading your weapons and armor. You can cook food, forge weapons, combines items... etc.
I hope that both 3G and 4 include competent online play similar to what was offered in MH Tri.

Thanks in advance.El_Zo1212oIt's definitely an action game. Think of it as an MMO where quests are completed by collecting certain items, killing a certain amount of monsters, or killing one big monster. Once you sign up for a quest, you're shipped off to whatever area the monster(s) or items are and you do what you were sent there to do. The majority of later quests are simply killing bigger monsters.
It isn't really an RPG at all. You don't level up by killing monsters, but by killing certain monsters, you have new and better equipment available for you to buy or forge using spoils you obtained from slain monsters.
The combat is fairly similar to Zelda in that you wait for an opportunity to strike, but without the need for extra items. Enemies are much, much, much more powerful than anything in a Zelda game, and killing one big monster can take an upwards of half an hour, and even longer for higher level bosses.
Okay, so there's no stat development or skill trees? It's all weapon-based progression? I can live with that. But when you say the bigger monsters can take upwards of half an hour, is it spent MMO-style, with you chipping away at the monster the whole time, or is it spent hacking and dodging and generally being intense? I want to think I'd like this game, but if the combat system is MMO-style clicky-clicky-cooldown, I'm afraid it doesn't stand a chance. Questing is bad enough, but I couldn't handle an MMO combat system.El_Zo1212oYou swing your sword, run away, dodge and stuff. Very intense. Doesn't feel MMO-ish. Only thing MMO-like is that there is grinding. I'd say MH is more like Demon's Souls than it is World of Warcraft.

Trust me, you won't be tanking hits. Some monsters can take a third to a half of your health out with one hit, and you have to go well out of your way to get your health back.
Pretty much every fight will be David against Goliath, and you are David without the slingshot. :P
And I was only relating to an MMO in terms of progression. It doesn't really play like an MMO at all, the combat is, like I said, much more like Zelda without items. You dodge attacks, attack while they recover, and get back to dodging. It's very intense and invigorating.
