I originally had the ds phat and the d pad was very responsive and clicky. I just got a ds lite and I love it except for the d pad. Its so cushy and you have to press it really hard to move in any one direction. My thumb usually cramps up after playing for an extended period of time. Does anyone else feel this way or has the same problem with their ds lite? or maybe I just got a bad egg. Now I'm thinking of getting a dsi just for the better d pad.

Dude, you should start doing thumb exercises and see where that takes you. I heard that trying to lift your dog with your thumb is supposed to help. Or was it your cat? Meh, tomato tomahto.

I don't have a problem. I like the DSi's better than the two previous DS models.

Phat's d-pad was awesome. Lite was ok. DSi....man you can't to diagonal directions and it not near as responcive as the phat. Still it's ok.

What do you mean by "you can't do diagonal directions"? It does that fine...

Yes, the phat had the best D-pad. The DSi tried to go the clicky route, but still kept the same small size of the dslite d-pad.

You get used to it eventually

I don't really like the DS Lite's dpad either, it's a pain in the ass to move diagonally in lunar knights.

The DSi's pad works fine. Contra 4 works perfectly for me, and I think the DSi's pad is vastly superior.

Have you ever tried playing FFCC:RoF on the DSi??? That game requires you to press two buttons on the D-pad at the same to (to walk diagonal). It is much more difficult then it should be.

No, but I've played plenty other games on the DSi have had no problems going diagonal whatsoever... :|
