It doesn't look like it will be that much better than the GBA games. The graphics look the exact same from what I've seen and the DS can definitly do better than GBA-caliber graphics. Also from the what I've read so far the story seems very similar

The 2d graphics arent much a problem actually, the problem was that they made the characters outfit a bit childish, i guess it wouldnt hurt making the outfits looking more cool (like adding leather rags... shining armor with a helmet that you cant see the face... just an example)
I remember that there was a game on n64.... ogre battle... the game was bad, but those characters outfits rocks.
Ffta is great, through was a bit easy, i hope they add dificult options this time.
Don't exactly like the Tactics series although I have played them all just to give it a go. I was pretty much hooked on FFTA whilst on holiday but it just got boring, and I hate how if one of your guys die then that's it they are gone.
The one aspect I do love about Tactics, both the original/war of the lions and the advance series is it's art style, 2d and cartoony is always awesome.
If A2 lets you keep your 'dead' teammates then I might give it a purchase.

When will people learn that its not graphics that make a game? Honestly I thought the last FFTA game was great, and yes I even enjoyed the Judge system alot considering I couldn't always rely on one sort of setup to win. The story may seem similar but that can be said with alot of games, sure the basics are the same but when you get down to it I'm sure there are many differences and with the amount of time and effort Square Enix has put into this game I don't think we'll see some half assed rehash of the last one like everyone seems to think it'll be.
I don't think it'll do very well. The first game got kind of boring after a while, and the story wasn't very interesting. Since this one is so much like the first, I don't think it's going to be very good.

....You only lose people forever if they're in "Jagd" locations, and even if you were talking about the PS1 Tactics then you had a certain amount of turns to either win or revive them.

At least they bothered to make a sequel because I got dissapointed on FFT War of the Lions for PSP. I thought it was something new. But they just ported the PS1 version and just added some Dark Knight job or something. Like I'd care.
It should have wi fi play! o_O otherwise it'll be the standard tactics afair ... 8.5 or so by gamespot o_OCharmande
Meh, i don't know...
What, would they give you a set of random characters to use? Or would you fight by guild level or something?
Well, I'm playing FFTA on my DS now, and I like it, but it could use some quicker pace.
And it has its shortcomings you know, so I'm waiting for FFTA2 which is more balanced, nicer jobs, a bit sharper graphics, ... also the law system seems much more "reasonable" now, since you dont get those stupid red cards anymore, like yesterday or summin' I was finishing a mission, last hit with Marche and BAM Red Card, cuz I forgot I wastn allowed to use knightswords, result? game over, that just plain sux
I'm sure it will do fine. Yes, it looks quite identical to FFTA. As many have mentioned, it was done for emphasis on the fact it's the sequel. Of course, there have been changes to the overall appearance, but it depends how picky you are. Again, this game isn't meant to have an epic story. If you really think about it, FFTA and FFTA2 are wonderful games for newcomers of the genre and anyone looking for a pretty customization-able game. Add in the fact you can play them for hundreds of hours if you enjoy them, it really is a great pair of games. You don't always need a great story for a great gaming experience.
FFTA2 is like any game. People will like it and people will hate it. People will find any way they can to try and bash it, as people will try and defend it.
I also think the FFT vs. FFTA/A2 is funny. FFTA/A2 are great for handhelds, but they aren't a console game either.
Oh yeah no, graphics are whats important...I mean forgo the fact that it has all new content and they are keeping the game mechanics that were actually good...no gameplay isn't as big of a deal graphics... I would rather watch a pretty than actually play a game with decent gameplay mechanics...
All sarcasm aside, it looks like they are going to deliver on what the Final Fantasy Tactics fans wanted (which is rare in a developer anymore): Better Character Development, Better Itemization, more classes and new guild functionality. IF you want good graphics, get a PSP. The graphics still work for me...

Stop crying because I said the graphics are crappy and look like a GBA game, which they do. The DS can play games that look so much better than that, so why don't they update the graphics?

Are you kidding me??? Have you seen any of the footage where a summon is summoned. Its amazing for the DS. The game is going to do just fine, and if you have issues with what it provides than yousimplydon't have to play it.

That's all Square does nowadays :|
But yea, I agree, the graphics aren't very important on the DS, especially in a TBS... It reminds me of Advance Wars; every time Intelligent Systems keeps the crappy sprites and animations and I'm always disappointed, but in the end I forget all about it while concentrating on the gameplay itself.
