[QUOTE="Duckman5"][QUOTE="vnc20100"][QUOTE="TacoJelly"] I'd still recommend getting through prime 1 first. It prepares you for the style of puzzles that are found in 3, and gets you acquainted with the scaning and such. Plus it's one of the best games ever.
Prime 2 not so much... still a great game, but it's really more of the same with better graphics, more items, and more to do. However, if you love Prime 1 you might want to just play prime 2 anyway... because trust me, after corruption, you will be spoiled with the short cuts and will get frustrated with the amount of backtracking in prime 2. Beautiful game, but frustrating at times.
put it this way, i'll go back and play prime 1 one day, and as much as i loved playing through prime 2 when i was, i wont come back years later to play it.
So yeah, Prime 1 for sure...for the story advancement in 2, just go through wikipedia to fill in the gaps.

Or watch the metroid retrospective at Gametrailers.com. It will fill the gaps for you. Should be episode 2 or 3.
The reason I didn't play prime 1 or 2 is because I hate shooters with a regular controller and I'm not intending to buy the two games either. Hey, I'm not even a shooter fan lol, but Re4 wii edition and Prime 3 changed all that. I'm sure story wise and events wise it's a satisfying experience, but it's probably not mandatory.
They aren't shooters. Please, you SHOOT things. Prime 1 and 2 is the same exprience with a controler than any other shooters on console. Just because you can't do headshot doesn't mean it's not a shooter. Oh right... you can do headshots in RE4..... so I guess it's a 3rd person SHOOTER. Sorry I got pumped up but I just think it's stupid getting lost in technical terms like that.
You shoot things in Final Fantasy but is it a shooter? No. It places more emphasis on adventure than shooting so it's FPA. Actually RE4 isn't a shooter either because it places more emphasis on Surivival Horror not TPS.
