Does playing in 480p reduce input lag?

input lag= time from when you press the button to when the change happens on screen.

Yes, it should, but you need the component cables to do that.

If you have an LCD or Plasma, then it can since then the television doesn't have to de-interlace the image.

So are you guys saying players who have this set up will have a gameplay advantage over the competition? I was thinking of asking for a widescreen HD for my birthday, and if this is true then I'll definiely be asking for it.

No not really. This isn't a problem for most HD TVs. All you need to do is make sure you get a TV with a good response time.
