well..if u make an effort to feel like ur really "in the game" then yes. for example, if u just sit down playing tennis..u r not gonna lose any weight..but if u stand up and swing hard as if u were really playing it..then maybe

You seriously shouldn't rely on a game console to lose weight.  You should use the 250+ dollars to get a gym membership.

You know if you have time to play video games, you have time to excercise.  The Wii can get you up and moving, but it's no substitute for real cardio excercise.

if you actually run around in wii sports then yes, if you get really into wii boxing, then yes. if, in like rayman when rayman runs, you jog in place as well, then yes. if you go to the gym instead, then of course you will, and youll lose more weight

Yes, it will as long as u play one of the sports once a cay for thirty min. Now the amount u lose depends on what u play, Like if all u did was play bowling where there isn't much effort then probably not to much, buy if u play something like boxing or tennis for 30 min. a day thenu will. but if does take some time... the one guy lost 9 pounds in 6 weeks, so it takes a while but is more fun!

I don't think you can depend only on playing Wii Sports to lose weight, but it is a great way to get moving and will burn some calories depending if you really get all into playing the sports games (like really moving and swinging in boxing). You will see more results if you eat right and buy a gym membership like most of the people here have said. Keep playing games on the Wii, the games are fun and will be a great addition to your gym workout.

I remain around 140lbs, which is below my recommended weight.
But i don't like food that much, so it's hard to weigh more. (Whether i do muscle development exercises or not, and i don't want to look strong in any way.)

There was a guy who experimented with weight loss on Wii. He succeeded pretty well but i doubt it was just because of Wii sports. I'll find the link for You. He's going to write a book about it too.
Here's the link, DeLorenzo.
Like people said i wouldn't rely on the Wii for weight loss, but who knows it might help in some way.

If you really want to do this I suggest you focus your efforts on baseball and boxing. The dodging exercise can really get you going, so try that one too. But so far I haven't seen much that can give really good results, so a gym is the best thing for you.

It would be awesome if they developed more games like Wii Sports in the future. They would have to come up with some really physically demanding moves though, and probably do microgames like WarioWare to keep the moves from getting repetive. Here's a few ideas I got while writing this:

- Rowing a boat by holding the remote sideways and pushing it back and forth (lol, now that I think about it you'll probably look a little dirty while doing this).
- Turning a lever in different directions by doing a rotating motion. As the microgame progresses it goes faster and starts switching between clockwise and counter-clockwise motion.
- Race against the AI or a friend to see who reaches the top of the latter first, you climb by repeatedly moving your hands up and down (using both remote and nunchuk). You can knock your opponent down a bit by quickly moving your hand sideways (depending on which side of the ladder you are), but this will require good timing and strength.
