Does your 3ds crash randomly?

Hey. I had my 3ds from launch and loved it. However from time to time it would crash and frezze. I have no idea why. All I see is a frozen image on both screens and requires holding down the power button to turn off. This has happened many times for me during gameplay so I weht into my local gamestation where I bought the 3ds. One of the men that work there told me If you play it over an hour it may overheat. I don't know if that is the case but please everyone can you let me know if it crashes and leaves a still image on your screen. I did sell my 3ds in the end.

There was a system update, so make sure you are running current system. I think others have had similar issues, so maybe there were a few bad ones.

I have not had it happen however, in reading other people's issues it sounds like it could be wifi combined with a system that isn't updated?

This is sad to hear. But sometimes there are portable dupes out there. hope the store/nintendo could fix that problem for anyone has has it.

Lego Star Wars III is one of the known problem titles. It's locked up on me 4 or 5 times over the past couple of weeks (and I mean the whole system freezes; no black screen informing you of a problem). Ghost Recon: Shadow Wars is another one that seems to have a crashing problem, but I don't own it, so I can't report on the frequency. The only time I've actually seen the "black screen" was when starting up Madden NFL shortly after getting my system, and haven't seen it since.

i got a black screen with no error message playing DQ9. the audio didn't stop.

Mine froze up on me just once so far.. I can't remember if it was while playing DQ 9 or nintendogs+cats ..

I do remember it was after I did the system update, seeing as soon as i took it out of the book i did a full charge then turned it on set everything up and did the system update before I even put a game cartridge in the system.

I haven't had any other issues since the 1 freeze up though. *knocks on wood*

Only one time on Rayman 3D.

Mine has locked up a lot on Lego Star Wars and a few times on Splinter Cell.

Mine once went black screen when booting the system for around 10 seconds (I could hear the sound of the menu), then it fixed itself.

And another time, when I turned it off, while the screen went off the lights still were on for like 10 seconds again, only happened once again.

But no freezing at all and I've played it a lot.

Only one time on Rayman 3D.

So far the only problems i had with my 3ds are the random crashes I would get playing Ghost Recon Shadow Wars. Turning off wi-fi was the solution and now I no longer have crashes anymore. I hope the next firmware update in May will fix this issue for good.

This mostly happens on third party games since they tend to increase the quality of the game without checking for bugs and glitches most of the time. Just today when I was playing Lost World(3DS) in Desert Ruins 1, the game crashed for no reason. So far this is the only time it had crashed. I'm guessing that you need to update your 3DS frequently.

So far I haven't had a crash, then again I haven't played a lot of 3rd party 3DS games. I'm actually kind of surprised to hear 3DS games can crash. I guess I assumed carts were immune to crashes but then again I am not the most tech savvy person out there.

Hmm? Nope mine has never once had an issue. Had mine since Day 1.

Have you ever upgraded the SD memory stick? I had problems with mine when i upgraded mine to 16gb, it kept freezing all the time, i changed the card to another make and now it works fine.

Never had it crash on me so far.

Black screen issues a couple of times, nothing major, had it since a few months after launch.
