it's good that they were thinking about the people who played melee, i heard they were thinking up some wii controls for it too and making the gc controller optional.

Yeah i hope they will. Kinda like MK:A. I think the problem is that it's hard to make it as fast paced as they want it with the wiimote.

As the developer said, Smash Bros is just too complicated to use with the wiimote. And given the controls they based the entire game around, it would either take much much longer to produce it with Wii controls or it will totally change the game mechanics (and then it just wouldn't be the smash bros we know and love).

First everyone pays out the use of a motion sensing remote and now people won't go back. Just enjoy it as it is.

well neither you or me have played it, so you cant say it feels weird...yet.

I owned a gamecube, so i highly doubt playing Brawl will make me feel weird

What? How does a farmiliar control scheme feel 'wierd'? The wiimote + nunchuck is 100x more weird to use for Brawl. You guys are acting using the wiimote + nunchuck could be used BETTER than the GC controller, which it can't. By all means, put both control schemes in, but it should be built around the GC controller since Brawl's gameplay is very much like Melee's (which is a good thing).

They are using the GC controller for SSM:B? Thank god.. Im getting a Wii soon, & was going to buy SSB:B regardless, but I always thought that the Wiimote wouldnt suit the game. Im not saying the Wiimote is bad (I love it) just a normal controller suits the SSB series imo.

well they don't need to use the motion sensing!!! the wiimote has plent of button when you include the nunchuck also... they could make it work on the wiimote without motion sensing.... i just don't want to feel all wired up with a ugly purple controller on my current gen wii

Not putting in motion sensing in the wiimote is like getting rid of a gun in a first person shooter. You might as well keep the GC layout as the button layout is 5x better than the wii one. I'm not saying the wii scheme couldn't work - but definitely not as well as the GC controller.

now that I think of it. perhaps Nintendo's trying to convince Gamecube owners that don't want a wii to get one. GC owners will want to play Brawl, so they'll use the GC controller, they'll get so caught up in it that they'll want a Wii. A pretty stupid theory, but it is a good idea to get more buyers. But all in all, a pretty stupid theory, unless you don't think that!
