i think the best way would be through the gba slot, put some kind of memory storage on a card in there that would be awsome, i know they have 3rd party flash memory u can use but none of those are made for game updates and stuff, so that would work there yet, but some kind of gba flash made by nintendo or the company that made they game would be the best idea in my head, ecspecaily for the rpg games that are online!
Who thinks that the DS should have games that can download new material and updates? Sort of like patches on the PC except for the DS.nintendo_fan135
That'd be nice but the DS would need some sort of HD for something like that, and Nintendo has always been about simplicity, so I wouldn't expect it for this handheld. Also Nintendo has never been big with online anything. Also internal memory of calibur would have driven the cost of the DS up, so $130 for this rectangular wonder is fine for me.Â
People suggest having a gba slot accesory. I personaly dislike that idea due to the fact that It would probably be more cost effect (for both producer and consumer) to just have extra memory on the ds cart. Most game carts under 256mb and the largest ds game cart avaliable is 1 gig, that is ALOT of extra room that could be added.
I have always dreamed of Half-Life for the DS, the orginal game for the pc was about 800mb but if converted alot of the textures and modles would be redone to cut down on memory size for visiual cost (most would think this process would ruin the game graphicly but on a 3inch screen it wouldnt look to bad), when you cut the size of everythign down you could probably get the game down to 300-600mb leaving 700-400mb free (if it was a gig card).
I know that I have gone off topid but I will piece it together. If anyone has ever played Half-Life Death Match they would know that it is one of the largest customised games of all time. There are MANY player made maps/models/textures/everythign else between. If HL was on the ds with the extra memory it would allow players to store large amounts of player made stuff. The average player made map is under 3mb, that means you could store alot of new maps.
Now that I am done useing a example that I wish was true but never shall be let me use a example that is real. When you play Advanced Wars DS you are able to create your own maps (up to about 10 I think), these maps are saved on extra memory, so the whole extra memory for customization already exist in current games. Imagine if Advanced Wars was wifi, there would be a inflation of custon maps, with even more extra memory (more then AWDS already has) you could hold thousands of maps (Im guess that a AW map is under 500kb).Â
