Nice, better than DQIV and on par with Chrono Trigger. I've got it preordered and ready to play it. :D

what do you think fire emblem is gonna get? i bet... 7.7-8.5.
is dqv like final fantasy?

My crystal ball is calling Fire Emblem 7.5 :o
DQ and FF have a few major differences; here are the big ones I can think of;
-DQ's combat is first person while FF's is third person.
-DQ's stories are generally more serious, mature stories than FF stories.
-DQ tends to have more gameplay variety.

Just a little :P
I will not lie, i hate first person view rpgs, when i look at one i just throw it away easily if the game didn't do enough to grab my attention early on. (the only one of these genre that managed to get my atention was the etrian odyssey series.)
That's why i didn't enjoy DQ IV, through i agree some find it quite enjoyable, but the game didn't did enough early to get my attention.
But considering the reviews for DQ V, i might get it, but i'm thinking carefully if i will... hence i will be a little short of cash because of the upcoming games, oh well.
Why they simply don't put an option where you can choose from first person view and third person view? that way they could avoid people whining about "taking off the nostalgy feeling" and whining about "i hate first person rpgs", two rabbits with one shot. Probably would be expensive, or take memory, whatever... i don't know, but it would be great if they could do it, we are not at the nes age anymore.
[QUOTE="jaxeryo"]That's ridiculous. Have you ever played any DQ game?... The best description of DQ's story is I believe this part of one of DQVIII reviews: "Dragon Quest games always had simple, naive story lines...It tells a simple, naive story line, knowing that it is simple and naive. It tells it with a kind smile that accompanies the game from the beginning to the end. At no point in the game will you feel that the story is banal and corny. Because the game doesn't try to convince you otherwise. On the contrary, it invites you to laugh together. Playing "Dragon Quest VIII" is like returning as an adult to the place where you grew up. You see that all the things that looked so big are now smaller, and you laugh when you think how they seemed so big to you before." And though DQ games made some awesome innovations back in the day, it tries to stay back to its roots, so I wouldn't say it has more variety than FF. Heck, they are too different.DQ and FF have a few major differences; here are the big ones I can think of;

Cool, a must buy for me since I've been getting back into RPG's.
IGN video review: 8.9
8.0 Presentation
You'll get the same bland interface as with DQIV on DS, but the source material this time around is stronger. The storytelling, imagery, foreshadowing, and scene design is very well done.
8.0 Graphics
The HUD work is simple, but a lot of the character animations are very well done, and the varied environments and story-supported scenery in DQV allows for a lot more variation.
9.0 Sound
cl@ssic DQ themes are mixed with a few great orchestrated pieces, and the original DQV soundtrack is simply beautiful. Great source material, and a nice DS conversion.
9.0 Gameplay
The game feels great. The only downside is the dated item system and for some, random battles. The core game is amazing, though very traditional as well.
9.5 Lasting Appeal
You won't find online or any amazing new modes, but the monster training has nearly doubled in size, with all monsters and items taking 100+ hours to unlock for the most devoted fans.
8.9
GreatOVERALL
(out of 10 / not an average)

Compared to FF, I do think DQ's are more serious; FF's feel overly dramatic, full of annoying cliches, etc.; IMO, of course. Not trying to start a flame war, but after playing some of the classic DQ's I think they're more mature than FF.
