DS: A girls toy

I brought the DS into work so I could build up my character for FF3 over lunch. As I was playing my friend uttered the words I just didn't want to hear.

Is the DS mainly for girls, or is my friend just being a dick ???????????????????

Most people base there opinions on what they really have no clue, Maybe hes seen a girl playing one before....I know a girl who loves to play guitar hero does that make it a girls system or game?

I see guys playing DSs all over my college campus.

I have a hard time prying my DS out of my girlfriend's hands most of the time. I showed her puzzle quest and now I'm seriously considering buying another DS for her to play with so I an get a little game time in.

The only girls who do that are insecure, the same way that only insecure guys are obsessed over whether or not their friend thinks they're playing a "girl's game." No question.

Think about it. Some guys are really hung up on only doing things that other guys approve of them doing. They don't want to be seen as weird/different. A lot of girls (usually young, but not always) are also hung up on their idea of being seen as a "real" girl/woman, and they don't see video games as being feminine. So they're going to bag on the games in an effort to make it clear they are NOT boys, they are NOT masculine, they are ALL GIRL. Guys do the same thing about being ALL BOY.

Thankfully most people grow out of that insecurity by the time they're in their 20s and they do whatever they feel like doing -- and tell their friends to grow up if they give them a hard time about it.

I think i am freak of nature then! because i have been playing on the PC since i was like 5. I grew up with quests and RTS series like Comand and Conquer, continuing with max payne, star wars kotor, nwm and all the other goodies in gaming.

Girls have began to play on the PSP. I see one of my coleagues hovering over her boyfriends PSP, but only to play Sims. If i had that console MGS and Tekken is written all over me :lol:

Well you might be right on her part but me, your so way off. I'm a complete nerd at heart and I guess that makes me different to my friends. I've been playing game from the age of 3, I'm 26 and still loving it. Take away the nerdy part and I'm a normal guy who gets pissed a little to offen...

Depends on what color your DS is :P

Also, females really like the DS. So In one way he's right and in another he isn't

The DS along with EVERY other games system on the market are(or atleast should be) designed for both boys and girls it just took most girls longer to get into than it did boys

PS: im a boy before anyone starts asking i just think that everyone has the rights to play whatever games they want on whatever system they want

well older girls like psp better and younger girls love the ds my sister plays the ds all the time with her friends. And at skool the only talk i hear from girls about games is psp.

I think some people think the DS is more of a girl!system because it's known for having more kiddy, girly games. It might also come in pink. I see no reason why both genders can't like it equally - it's just a good system!

With that being said, last time I checked, I am definitely a girl & definitely like my ps2 and 360 as much as my DS. 

im gonna go with no...its not, I am a dude and love mine.

My girlfriend does have one though and enjoys it quite a lot as well, as do two of her friends (that are girls), they play multiplayer in class, quite funny.

 But still I think it is a very universal system with games that appeal to everyone across the board: gamer, nongamer; girl, guy; whatever.
