if so, we'll they be displayed in 3D?

Yes and No DS games will play on the 3DS, but will not play in 3D because the games weren't made in 3D, it doesn't just magically happen like people seem to think, the game has to have actually been developed in 3D.

I can't believe people are still asking these questions...

Anyway, yes the 3DS can play DS games. The 3DS is still a DS. It is more powerful and has 3D but it still a DS and supports all the features of the previous interations.

No, older games made for the DS will not display in 3D because they are not made to display in 3D.

Yes, all games you own for your DS will be playable on your 3DS.

Sorry RatchetV1, the DS games were never programmed to take advantage of the 3D capabilities of the 3DS, so only 3DS games will have that 3D feature, so your original DS titles will work no different then what they did on your old DS.

However one minor difference playing them on the 3DS is you now got the option of using the Circle analog Pad.

i was only asking because i want to get pokemon black. i never had a DS before, the 3DS would be my first. none of the launch 3DS titles interest me. although the one's set to release later are definite must-buys. thanks for the feedback.

Of course you don't get any actual analog control. It basically functions as an eight-way digital stick.

I know that, I just said the option is there if you want to use it. :P

The 3DS can play all DS and DSi games (including dowloadable games from DSi ware via a SD card), though, like others have said, those said games will not be able to be played in 3D. Since the 3DS is next gen, games that you might get from the eShop will not be playable on the DS or DSi (or xl), nor can retail 3DS games be played on them either.

I have a 3DS and Pokemon Black, White, Black and White 2, and various other Pokemon Games. They have all worked with the exception of Pokemon Platinum. I tried 2 different 3DS portable units as well as 2 different game cartridges. It appears that this DS game is not compatible with the 3DS system.
