I think 3rd Strike would be a great add to the collection. Some say the DS' capabilities are not enough to run SF:3 but look at the GBA... it downgraded the graphics for Alpha and it ran great.
Even a Marvel vs Capcom game would work well too since the console is blessed with 2 screens (top screen would be for super jumping or launching opponent up for air combos).
Though D-Mon is right, sort of. My hands cramp up after playing Super Street Fighter: Revival and the KOF games for GBA, but the trade off is well worth it... These were my favourite games at one point and I'd love to play new high quality Capcom fighters on my DS :}

I agree, fighting games are difficult to execute well on handhelds. Your thumbs literally burn after playing Super Street Fighter 2: Turbo Revival for just a half an hour. Factor in the horrendous DS Lite D-Pad and you have yourself the makings of a disaster.
HEY HEY HEY! What gives here?! I'm sorry but I'm gonna go ahead and say I disagree with the previous statements! Fighters are far from unplayable... IF THEY'RE MADE CORRECTLY! I'll go ahead and use Street Fighter Alpha 3 as an example. Phenomonal game for the GBA. A worthy port of a truly fantastic game. Sure it wasn't particularly original but they still did an excellent job considering the GBA's hardware and engine capabilities for it.
The main reason that fighters aren't fantastic all the time is because there isn't really a demand for them on the DS. The DS has plenty of adventure games, loads of RPG's, and a jaw-dropping number of puzzlers... but where are the fighters? If Capcom ALONE made a decent port of any street fighter game and *gasp* put it online, I can almost guarantee that it would succeed. Something is missing on the DS, and its about time we start getting some.
On that note, Smash Bros. on the DS would most likely be spectacular and as its been discussed before, work to the DS's strengths. Online on this wouldn't be bad either. :D
Anybody play Guilty Gear ds?...I'm not down.
But, Mortal Kombat is going to make the call to be honest. Capcom will be watching the sales. The Street Fighter GBA titles sold ok, from what I've heard (most of my friends own them). If MK's game play is legit then Street Fighter ds is a huge possibility, I think.
If MK is a flop, me may not get many more fighters for DS.

Street Fighter Third Strike would sell well for sure. And with Wifi? FFA and all of Japan would hold daily tournaments. Hah.
Nah...........not interested in havin a fighting game on mah DS ...... but there r ppl who wud luv it.....
Fighting games are unplayable on handhelds. Unplayable.
The only ones that are near decent are Dragon Ball Z: Supersonic Warriors on the GBA and Tekken on the PSP.

I disagree. Is it the best platform? No, but hardly unplayable.

It's worth pointing out that although the DS D-pad is hardly ideal, it's still a darn sight better than the PSP's, so if the PSP can have decent fighters, why can't the DS? Is it the staggering success of the system? Is it the cheap development costs? Is it the virtually effortless task of porting a SF game yet again? :S

I hope UMK3 does really well when it comes to DS so that other companies like Capcom can that notice that DS does need more fighting games.
