As for the topic, I'd definitely take the "maybe" off of Advance Wars, man. I love it, and before the originals I wasn't really keen on turn-based strategies. Next to that, I'd have to recommend Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney if you can find it. If you're having your doubts, take it from me -- it's a heck of a lot more engaging than it seems.
I miss two games on that list (maybe even three):
Â
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney and its sequel Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Justice for All. And the one which I'll also get: Hotel Dusk.
It's all investigating, but since I haven't played Hotel Dusk yet, I can only narrow my stories to the Phoenix Wright series. It's basically about a defense attorney who tries to get his clients a not guilty verdict. Its games contain very good story lines as well as original features. You should read the GS review... it's definitely a game for grown-ups. Â
Ehhh, "grown-ups"???
Well, any game that's pure, beautiful and intuitive (say, Animal Crossing, Electroplankton) is really a children's game, since most "grown-ups" have sadly lost their ability to appreciate true beauty and simplicity, to feel something in those games. to let their imagination run them through.
So, your question basically doesn't make sense, you should see that if you look at the truth.

I'm afraid cynicism is not appropriate in this thread. Nor is your discussion of "what a grown-up is."
My intention was to query whether a fresh and different gameplay mechanic were available on any DS games, along with a dose of polished titles that make use of established gameplay styles. This would be something that grown-ups, i.e. those who have been gaming for 20+ years, could appreciate, as well as enjoy innovativity through a handful of creative games. Lucky for me, it looks like there are plenty to keep my gaming needs (and wallet) occupied for plenty of time!
I'm 28 and in matter of facts I don't consider myself a "grown ups"... you should try with games that you think that bring you more fun, in the end it is what really matters
In any case these are my favorites:
-metroid prime hunters
-mario karts ds
-elite beat agents
-final fantasy fables chocobo tale (this is not particularly a game for "grown ups" )
-dragon quest hero rocket slime (neither this)
-phoenix wright ace attorney
-ultimate spiderman (a little bit easy but really good)
-final fantasy III

Gah! No one ever mentions Mario vs. Donkey Kong 2! Most underrated game on the system...The_Pig_Hostage
I agree!!!!
Not sure if its too late to recommend some DS games but think I will anyway.
I am a 30yr old gamer here and I have to say as far as games that are a breath of fresh air game wise, I would definatly recommend Lost in Blue 1 or 2, Trauma Centre, Hotel Dusk - Room 215 and if you want something to suck you in, I would also say Pokemon Diamond or Pearl. I had never had anything to do with a Pokemon game before but Pokemon Diamond really is very well made and addictive and will give you hours of gameplay. Advance Wars is also good, but its pretty flat in my opinion.
Of everything I would recommend Lost in Blue as far as making the best use of the Touch Screen of any game Ive seen so far. It is amazing. From fishing, to speak fishing to making furniture.. it is just fun and the story is great and the graphics are amazing!
30 year old gamer here. I picked up a DS Lite about two weeks ago. The only game I have so far is New Super Mario Bros. I think you will enjoy, it has that nostalgic feel but brings new things in as well. Ow and its is nice for a quick unwind in the evening after the kids go to bed. I especially like the sleep mode so I can stop/start playing quickly if something comes up.Â
I think my second game will be Puzzle Quest. You can actually get a PC demo of this game to try out first. Its a puzzle game/ RPG hybrid.
29 year old gamer here. I've been gaming since I was two years old, litterally.
Anyway, I picked up the new cobalt and black DS last nite. I've been thinking about getting one for awhile after playing with my neiece's DS, and when they came out with the new color scheme I couldn't resist. :)
I also picked up Final Fantasy: Revenant Wings and one of those brain teaser games. I've been having fun with FF so far. The simplicity is something I tend to appreciate with all the major/stressful decisions I have to make in my carrer field.
I've been using my thumbs to tap the screen to move the characters about and attack and it's working well so far. I am really enjoying it!
I can't wait to play some of the WI-FI enabled games online.
After searching through the gamespot reviews, I've come up with the following titles I plan to purchase. Feel free to add to the list:
Final Fantasy XII: Revenant Wings
Final Fantasy III
Sim City
Mario Kart
Advance Wars: Dual Strike
Advance Wars: Days of Ruin
The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hour Glass
Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow
Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin
Animal Crossing: Wild World
All of the games recommended thus far are great, the only one that I would add to the list would be the newly released Professor Layton and the Curious Village. A god storyline married with some really great puzzles. It's one of those things that make you go... hmmm... :)
