I bought Final Fantasy III DS from ebay for $5 and it works finebbkkristian
Are you saying it's a bootleg? I'd be wary of putting a lot of hours into playing a known fake game. Fake cartridges are notorious for corrupting save data.
Boy, the subject of eBay fakes sure comes up a lot here. :(
well i actually bought 2 i think one is real but the other game i got from the buyer had bad feedback about being fake...k1o8
What game?
I recently got a fake DS game, and while the things wrong with mine may not apply in your case they're worth checking.
First, the barcode number on the back of the case was for a different game. Google the full number on yours and see what comes up.
Every DS game has a unique four character code associated with it. You should see a form of that in at least three places; on the back of the case near the barcode, printed on the cartridge label, and stamped in ink on the back of the cartridge. It'll look something like "NTR-P-XXXX". The form will vary from place to place, but the "XXXX" part should be the same in each. On the fake I got, all were different, and none were for the right game. Google will help you there too.
The content of the manual was mostly a word-for-word copy of GameSpot's review of the game. Nowhere did it actually tell me how to play the game.
Where did it come from? If China/Hong Kong, I'd be worried.

It can't wreck your DS (as far as I know), but you can easily tell if games are fake.
Found this on Yahoo answers:
They should have a gold 16(?) point star on the game label on the cartridge saying Nintendo seal of quality, and also the back of the cartridge will say something along the lines of NTR-005 PAT.PEND.
EDIT
Also, USA versions are fine, as the DS is region free but watch out for ROMS, which are blank DS cartridges with games copied onto them.

i know its a bit late but i compared it with one of my real games and they both have the same cods NTR-005 and the star on both of them has about 24 pointsk1o8
My fake had the NTR-005 molded into the plastic. The code I mentioned should be printed in ink below that. It'll be dark ink on dark plastic, so it can be a little hard to see. Angle it to the light and it should show up clearly.
Mine also had the seal.
its kinda harg to read does it have only letters becuase the 'o' looks like an 8k1o8
They can have letters and numbers. It looks like the zeros have dots in the middle. The important thing is that all the codes match. The first four characters on the back should match the middle ones on the label. For example, on my US Meteos I have:
"NTR P AMTE" on the case insert, next to the barcode.
"NTR-AMTE-USA" on the cartridge label.
"AMTEN0J22" in ink on the back.
Note the "AMTE" is common to all three. If you Google "NTR P AMTE" you'll see several matches for Meteos.
gta chinatown i got from ebay is real but it was cheap becuase it had no cover and the manuel was made by them. (it was new) the other one came with a fake cover and instructions and the buyer that i got that off had a few bad feedback for bootleg games. when googled the code on the cover it came up as mario 64 DS.
Never buy from Hong Kong. I've bought tetris ds and my friend have bought games from there. They have no copyright laws so...They also had extremely good reviews(like 99%) but the negative reviews they did have said the game was fake. The Game I bought was brand new and extremely cheap. If you think the game is a fake it probably is...My game had some stupid manual that was all fake and crappy. Hope I helped
mine was ASME none of them had anyhting in commonk1o8
If the three codes are different, I'm pretty sure it's fake. I have a lot of DS games, and since getting the fake I've checked them all. That includes US, Japanese and a few European releases and the codes are consistent on all.
I Googled "NTR P ASME" and came up with Super Mario 64. Is that the game you bought?
Did you Google the barcode? My fake was DK Jungle Climber, and the barcode was 045496734992. If you Google that you come with, coincidentally, Super Mario 64.

How sure are you it's real? There are multiple red flags there for me. Are the codes on the front and back consistent? Do they include "YGXE"?
I'm not trying to hound you, I just hate the thought of you investing time in the games and having problems down the road. Plus, if you want to pursue the issue with eBay/PayPal, you have a limited amount of time.
