I've been looking at a couple videos of the Internet browser for the DS and i think it looks pretty cool. I also have the Internet broswer on the wii but i dont really use it that much becaus ei think it takes to long typeing and things like that. I was thinking that with the DS, witht the touch and all, that the typing and searching stuff would be a lot faster. I was just wondering if this thing is worth 30 bucks or not. I was also wondering if this thing can play all types of video, like windows media or quicktime. I'm assuming that it can play youtube videoes like the wii,

Thanks!

dont get it. i've been told by many that it is horrible. it's slow, you can't watch videos, and it's a waste of time.

Don't waste your time with the Internet Browser. It is very slow, it can't play video or audio. And it's not like you can just use it anywhere, you have to be in a hotspot. And if you are in a hotspot there is bound to be a computer you can use instead of this slow piece of crap.

The DS Browser is really not as bad as people say.

I've personally have good experiences with the DS Browser while travelling. I use it mainly to check my email, and store address when I don't have access to a computer. In big cities, it is pretty easy to pick up wireless anywhere you are. It is slow, but loading text isn't so bad. There is a function for you to disable the loading of images so it wouldn't take as long.

There is no sound or video capabilities. I wouldn't recommend surfing the internet for a long period of time with this, you might go cross-eyed. With wireless that requires for you to log in from the browser like the T-Mobile wireless, it WILL NOT work on the DS Browser. It is just another one of its limitations.

Basically, it is very handy and a great thing to have during your travels.

I recently had a job in Turkey where I was there for a month. Where I was staying there was a hotspot but the computers were off limits for work only. I wish that the Browser came out before I left because it would of made up for a laptop, almost.

Now if you guys actually USED the browser, you would see hat you are WRONG. The DS shouldnt be your main mode of internet access, but it is helpful. Its just a handy little thing to use. Ive personally used it to check email and cnn in the middle of the night. Sure things load slow, but the people who put it down as a "slow piece of crap" havent actually used it, because they are no more than five feet from the computer they built themselves that is on the bleeding edge of all technology. Get it, Ive had the japanese version for several months and dont know how I lived without it. Only listen to those people who have actually used it,notthecompletenerdsmoochuingofftheirparents.

It can be handy for a spot of light browsing but it doesn't have flash or java,so you are limited to what you can do on it.you can use msn mobile tho.

First of all, you must be the DULLEST knife on the shelve if you think that the DS and its weak little processor can handle streaming sound and video. The thing has like 1-2mbps max. It's not specifically designed to go surf the internet in the first place. But Opera did a decent job making the thing go online, there's no doubt about that. The thing has many uses. People in your house hog the computer too much? Upload a faq while you're playing a console game. Look at dirty pictures without the risk of getting a virus. Look at material your mommy and daddy don't want you to see in your bedroom. Check mundane things like e-mail at somewhere comfortable in your house. It is slow (again, the DS is not a 2.4GHz computer with 512 MB RAM) but turning on the SSR/no images option does speed things up. The browser is worth the money, I've done many things using it from e-mail to posting in forums to research. Just don't be an idiot and expect it to be like a desktop PC in the palm of your hands.
