If you want solely games then roll with the DS, if you want a media device then go with the PSP. DS > PSP IMO and yes, I do have both.

i own both at first i played the ds all the time but when i got my psp slim and light my ds has been collecting dust ever since great games like star wars ff tactics the war of the lions and syphon filter silent hill origins and many others have kept me hooked on the system i just recently purchased tekken DR for 4.99 in a bargain bin brand new.

the other good thing about the psp is that you can put videos music etc onto it as you already probably know. i have a 1gb card and thats more than enough for me i have 2 movies on there a few south park episodes and still have enough for plenty of game saves. the only problem is battery life 6-8 hours max.

the ds is great if you like fun games and minigames the system also had great battery life 15-18 hr. the majority of the games are pick up and play titles like new super mario bros mario kart animal crossing brain trainingetc. but you also have yuor rpgs such as zelda PH pokemon d/p FF 3 etc.

but overall i would get a psp slim.

Heck, just save up and get both, it'll make the decision a non-issue! Just kidding...in all seriousness, the real difference isn't necessarily game quality, but the general experience. Both have extremely great games, both have good ones that get boring after a while, and both have their share of absolute garbage that should be banned from existence. The difference is that the DS excels at games that feel like they belong on a handheld, while the PSP feels like a portable console. If you're looking for a portable with games that are designed to be portable (read: pick up and play), the DS is the choice for you, but if you want to take the console experience on the road with you, the PSP is the way to go.

I always try to go by a system's library. It seems like DS sales are considerably stronger than PSP's. Look at the 5 or 6 years Nintendo made GBA games. Hell, the Bit Generations came out last year.

You can buy a PSP, but it seems like they'll be making DS games for quite a few years still.

I have a DS lite and it is pretty cool. It has good gameplay and great online play. the psp to me is just slim with better graphics. i say you should get the ds lite over any hand-held system.

Mario, Zelda, Metroid, and Pokemon. What more can you ask for? Nintendo always has the best first party line up!

Dude, easy choice. go for DS Lite (It's much cheaper than the psp) and you can buy a MAX Drive fro it if you want movies and music. It's only $40 at amazon and is 4gb big!

well being at a ds board the general opinion will say ds, but i also have both and here all the time that the ds has better games and plays better, but to be honest with i use/play my psp a lot more. Yes the psp does have a lot of ports and ps2 remakes and such and didnt have too many strong games for a while but nowadays the psp has a pretty good library with some good action games, a fair share of role-playing, sports games on the go, and obviously other forms of media. Ive played jsut pokemon on the DS more than any psp game albeit FFT and Sega Genesis Collection but still played psp a lot more. The DS is still a great handheld, i obviously cant argue with that and dont want to but dont let any DS fanboy talk you out of buying a psp, its worth it.

Yes that is true. However if you have really great games, and great music, and mediocre movies, all in one small package, Who could complain?

My son had a PSP for a couple months, he had all kinds of problems from the disks not reading, the UMD disks not spinning and he had to take them apart and try to fix them all the time, the games were much more expensive, and only after using it a couple times he had 10 or 15 dead pixels. He was veryeasy with it and wasn't a litle kid ( he was 12 at the time) and always kept it in a solid case and still had all those problems. After only 2 months he took it in and got his money back and got aDS and has had no problems at all. Thats not counting the loading times problem and battry life. PSP might be good for media stuff, but for a good portable system, DS is the way to go. I don't know if they have changed all those issues or not ( this was last Christmas) but after all the trouble we had, I wouldn't waste my money on one again. Get a DS and a MP3 player and save a hundred.

i am now leaning towards the DS, but i have to look through th PSP's library.the reason i wanted a psp was to only get these three games:CC FF7,KH BbS,and gta vice city stories.but i figured i could get a GTA for my ps2,358/2 days with DS.so i am not really losing out either way i go!

Branzolis

1. DS does have good shooters (MPH, Dementium, Goldeneye, BIA, COD4)

2. Baby type games? Do you have 11 copies of Hanna Montana?

3. "i am now saving up for a psp and going to waste $200 on a psp" ...Waste? your words, not mine.

4. PSP not only costs $50 more than DS, but most PSP games are $10-20 more than DS's. How is PSP "a way better system"?

Also, PSP has loading times. Load times make me want to puke, not to mention load times on a handheld console.

Well, I've got a fat PSP but I don't think there's a whole lot of difference, so I guess I'm qualified to chime in here. The DSL has been the best investment for me, personally. I'd still club anyone to death who tried to take my PSP away (mainly just because I paid so much money for it, but there is some emotional attachment there as well... hehe). They're both great little machines, but I still haven't decided whether or not I should spend money on an upgrade to a Slim. I got a DS Lite the same week they came out. So, yeah. I'm heavily biased in favor of Ninty in the handheld market. If Sony replaces the nub with a trackball on the next PSP model, I'll buy a dozen of them.

Get a DS, it has alot of better games and is alot more fun.

Super Mario 64DS, Mario Kart, Metroid Prime Hunters, Zelda Phantom Hourglass, Pokemon D/P, Diddy Kong Racing, FF12, and alot more.

The Touch Screen is obviously the DS's best feature, and it really does change the gaming experience. PSP doesn't have that type of innovation, nor the outstanding games to back it up.

@ The person who said DS games are babyish, haha, fun doesn't mean babyish. The 11 games you have must really be pretty crap.

I f you want a pure and simple gaing device that does its job well and at the same time will leav you good memories forever, then get a DS. If you want gimmicky multi-media capabilities and a system that's swaped w/ a bunch of BS games out there and very very few good games, then go w/ the PSP

ya well the PSP has such a huge freaking screen that if you had a 1GB stick you'd only be able to fit like 20min of video on it (granted that your using the full screen). While the same size card on the DS would give you 1Hr or more of movies (granted that you could used an SD card or wat ever, on a DS).

I have both. i'm not a kid but i think the DS is better for kids up to 12 and then the PSP has the advantage, especially for boys from 13 to say 20. After that it sort of depends what kind of games you like. The DS has the Brain Age games which is why alot of older adults get a DS but as good as they are they can be a little boring in the same way working out on a treadmill is. There is a pretty wide selection of DS games that would appeal to adults, and kids too,of all tastes though. I loved my DS and played games like Elite beat Agents, Ouendan2, Bleach2 and then i got a PSP slim when it came out almost 3 months ago mostly for racing games like Wipeout Pure, Burnout legends and Dominator and really haven't played my DS since...so it's a bit more than the newness of the PSP i really think the games are a bit better but again maybe that's becauseI got it mainly for racers althoughI also play DJ max portable2 and some others...I think they're both good but the age and sex of the person playing probably makes a difference...alot of difference actually.

i like the psp for NBA, GTA and tekken dr. other than that ds all the way. it really depends on you. by the way dont listen to the poster above about the "baby type" games..... just look at mortal kombat and COD4 and contra.

Better games but worse gameplay? :? I dont think that's possible... you kind of contradicted yourself. :P

The DS actually has a much better game library, in my opinion, as long as you aren't looking for a ton of shooters or something you have a wide variety of games to choose from. Not to mention that the hardware quality of the DS is superb and the DS has a solid game lineup for next year.

The really answer to this is it depends if what side you're belong. But me, i like both. I like zelda and mario and in the other side, nba, fightnight and shooters. Just like wii and ps3.. I like them both.
