The same thing happens to my DS but so far only when I play Yoshi's Island so I don't know if it's a game glitch or if it's my DS.  It's definately not the battery cause my DS is always plugged in.  I'd love to hear some feedback.

Yeah try opening the DS, cleaning the battery and then start the DS again... it may be some problem with that.... and if it's not... use the warranty!!!

I had the same problem (and I take excellent care of my DS) so I called Nintendo and my replacement is on its way. You should do the same.  You just send the old one back when the new one arrives - the shipping's all paid for.  Gotta love Nintedo's customer service.

My red and black DS Lite has started experiencing the same thing. Suddenly shutting down during gameplay, and this is after it had been fully recharged. When I try to turn it off, the DS light just blinks green and won't shut off until the battery completely drains in a day or two. Very frustrating! I don't play it alot and it's well stored away from the wife when not in use..

Did you do an online repair or call their Customer Service directly? I think I need to do the same...

Your DS is broken. Call Nintendo and have them repair it for you. I had the same exact issue, Nintendo solved my problem in less than a week.

Also, 'well stored away from the wife'..? Blame her for the faulty handheld, do you? haha.

Maybe your DS shuts off by itself because:

Maybe your DS doesn't like to be "Turned On". Idk what kind of DS that is though.

As Hells_Hammer said, just send it into Nintendo and get it fixed. Its most likely broken, with nothing you could do to repair it.

My ds has the same problem but the warranty has already run out. And yes, smart asses, the battery is fully charged and I didn't touch the power switch. Those were the first things I checked. If anyone has a suggestion that doesn't involve paying nintendo 80 bucks to fix it I would love to hear it! Since the warranty is expired any way I would be willing to open it up.
