I have done about a week of research on the systems (except DS XL) and decided to get a DS Lite because of the cheaper price and GBA BC.

But have seen many threads saying the DS XL is great and alot of people with DSi's. I haven't had a handheld since the Gameboy Colour.

So any opinions and/or constructive comments etc. would be appreciated

DS Lite. Cheaper, has the GBA port which is awesome. Has no annying gimmicks (camera) to get in your way. It is waht its meant to be: a gaming system.

I don't see why you didn't do research on the XL but enjoy your Lite. I've had a DSi and it is great if you can afford it. Based on what I've read, same can be said about the XL except for DSi owners who don't need to upgrade. DS Lite is great too and it's cheap so it's great if you're tight on budget. All in all, I still think the DSi / XL is the one to get if you can afford it

I have all 4 DS models (there are only 4 out at this point, right?:), and the only one I really don't like is the original "brick".

I won't say that any one model is the best. It really comes down to personal preference and what your priorities in handheld gaming are.

The Lite is my all-round favorite DS because of its light weight, pretty "metallic" color, and GBA slot.

I prefer the XL to the DSi regular because the larger screens help with my poor eyesight. This might not matter to you, but the text in certain games is difficult for me to read on the small screens. However, because the resolution on the DSi XL is the same as on the small DSi screens, some games do not look as good on the larger screen; the text in the DSi menus and web browser also looks more pixelated.

The sound quality on the XL is decent, and more importantly, the speakers are loud enough. The XL (my unit, anyways), has the "clicky" buttons/Dpad like on the Lite, while my DSi has (for me) harder to push, rubbery buttons/Dpad. One final advantage the XL has over all the others: the unit is more comfortable to hold and I don't get hunched up as much as when using a smaller unit.

Hope this helps.

the lite for having a brighter backscreen, just the right size, and also the GBA slot = instant buy for me. i never looked back or even thought of having a DSi. i'll be just fine with my lite.

If the GBA slot is a big deal to you, go with the Lite. If not, go for a DSi XL if you have the cash, and DSi if you don't quite have enough.

i bought the dsi the day before the xl came out because after all my research, i never looked at the date... but anyway, i was really sad about it, but after travelling pretty much all last week, the dsi i can see as being actually way more portable. i put it in my pocket, and it was already pretty tight for me. if i had a dsi xl, i would have had to carry it seperately (though i did have a bag with me, but at least i didnt have to zip my bag every time :P

the XL is a superior machine hands down. I'm beyond satysfied with this product and coulnd't be happier about trading in my candy blue DSi for it. In my opinon, if you have a DS period, you'll want to light up both screens play DS games and the GBA slot will end up just collecting dust. All the added features on the DSi XL are really cool and fun to toy around with, and the gigantic screens make any game look magnificent in comparison to any other DS.

Glasses any body? if you one of those kids who want to refuse to get them... you missing out on HD... if this is the case i suggest you get some glasses and if truly don't like them don't wear them but give it a try and maybe you change your mind because you be able see in HD for once

i be getting a dsi in coming weeks and and that's how i see the xl... i would like the xl but oversize and most likely wont fit in my pockets... now if i had jeans with 12ft pockets where you can slide a saw off shotgun down them maybe i would but i only where dress pants and shorts and to my knowledge they don't have 12ft pockets

XL

Ive owned all DS models except the regular DSi. *DS fat, DS Lite, DSi XL*

The DSi XL is my favorite:

PROS:

Bigger screens really add to the game play and make it more immersive.

Bigger console works in male favor because of our larger hand size. No more hand cramps here!

Better sound. Full stereo with a bit more bass is very welcome compared to tinnier mono.

Cameras, although you may not use them, its always good to have an extra. Same applies to the MP3 playing aspect.

CONS:

If you don't have a job or its a long way from your birthday, this might not be for you.

Less portable. But thats not to say it isn't. It fits in to my back jeans pocket snuggly.

I'm sensing some XL hate here, just sensing it. I don't get it, XL may seem like a waste of cash to some but the bigger screens, better audio and good battery life are some sweet things. No need to piss on it's parade :?

DSi looks nice. It looks easier to use. I would buy one if I didn't already buy a DSi.

Or of course, you could hold on to your money and wait for the 3DS.

DSi. IMO is much better than the DS lite. If i wanna play gameboy games ill just get my sp. But I rarely do play GBA so it doesn't really matter. DSi has so much more to offer.
