lol... i was wonderin the same question right now.. (even though i have a DS) because i'm thinkin of gettin a couple of things (games, MP4 Players, ect) and i was wondering if i should. Anyway, i dont think they will have a new one until around 2008 but hey maybe. i hope they make a new one. There is no news on a new handheld from Nintendo.
EDIT: even if they made a new handheld, it would be called the DS 2. Nintendo always makes a new one. Mainly i guess for the same reasons Rijiki stated, also some other reasons.

Its probably pretty safe to get a DSLite. Its selling so well that its killing the "competition". They have no need to change up for the forseeable future.
