DS Phat owner and questions about DS Lite

Hi everyone, I have been a DS Phat owner for 3.5 years and since I use my DS daily
am concerned that my battery life will not last that much longer and am considering
buying a DS Lite but have some questions? First is there a difference between the different
color Lites? For instance I have heard that the crimson/black has some yellowish tint at the bottom
of the screen. Also some people have mentioned the hinges breaking on some Lites. The one
thing I have been very impressed with on my Phat is the sturdyness of this DS. I've always liked
the look of the DS Lites and the fact that you can adjust the brightness along with the smaller size
of the Lite are both positive aspects. All responses will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I currently own 1 white DS lite and 1 onyx DS lite. As for the white, It does tend to pick up dirt(or at least show it) easier than the other colors. My onyx one is a fingerprint magnet, but doens't show the dirt as well. I have not had any hinge problems although I do baby my electronics. However, even with being careful I did have a drop with my Onyx DS. I'm a 6'5" guy so the fall was somewhere around 4 feet. It survived the fall onto a hardwood floor with no cracks, breaking, ect. So overall I think if you take care of them, they will take care of you.

Now you mentioned liking the smaller size and being able to adjust the screen brightness. The Lite also has improved battery life over the DS Phat. One thing some people don't like though is if you use the GBA slot for gaming, the games will stick out a little bit. Happy shopping!

theres no problem with the hinges, there is almost no difference between dif. coloured lites, except the half blue/red- half black ones have better material on the bottom half of the ds, like not shiny but more grippy. and it's smaller so its better

and i would just try to buy a new original DS battery , maybe phone nintendo?

I own a crimson/black ds and I've never noticed a weird tint at the bottom. And about your hinge question, its sort of ironic that you would mention that because I asked a gamestop employee that and he said the phat had hinge issues, not the lite. Weird.
