The DS is a good buy with it's huge library of games and wide variety of genres. It also has quite some innovative games due to it's unique touch screen controls.
Speaking of it dying? The DS Sales are still going strong till now, and there are still places and people who cant get the system due to them selling out too fast.
With that, a new DS probably wont be coming out anytime soon.

Hmm, i'm 23 and i find it okay. For me, Games are meant to be fun, and the content is what's counts.
The DS is supposed to be aimed at all ages, with games that suit many age groups and many different people.
You might wanna check out the "Recommendations" thread on the board to get a look at some popular/good games, and also look around to find out about the games and what they're about.

Hopefully, we get somebody else to give some of their opinions, so that u can have a better idea of how you should make your choice.

I'm almost 22 and theres a few good titles that can be still interesting (Phoenix Wright games being one of them), I also thought DS games where just for "kids" but once you look through the line up/library of games the DS has you'll be surprised.

Theres been confirmation of a new DS (I believe the Dec or Nov issue of GI had the details) but Nintendo wont put it out on the market tell the DS lite slows down in marketing which so far looks like its not gonna happen for a good 2 years.

I really love Phoenix Wright, and got hooked right after i tried it, even though i didnt like the idea when i heard of the game right when it came out.

What magazine or site is that GI? Any Links on the info of new DS?

I read in some magazine (can't remember which) that Nintendo have no intention of releasing a new handheld anytime soon as the DS Lite is still in high demand and sales are good.

The DS isn't Dying anytime soon, in fact, it's still Young! Most of the games are aimed at younger children. Many more are mini-game collection. But there are games aimed at the older group, such as resident evil, Touch the Dead, and Ultimate Mortal Kombat. All the Mario Games are fun for all ages, and there are a lot of good multiplayer games.

oh on the subject of a new ds, apparently what i've read here in britain, a new design is in the pipe line, slimmer, bigger screens and no gba port, but it's old news been around for ages. i would think 2-3 years before a 'brand new' ds is out
