This will be included in the Archive Thread.

DS Forum Tournament: Pokemon Diamond/Pearl/Platinum finals results

The first DS Forum user-run tournament was a success despite many of us not knowing how it would have turned out and having our doubts. In all there were 28 valid participants and 1 substitute. Even though some users didn't show up and others forfeited because of connection issues, the majority of participants were still able to get battles and advance to the later rounds. The finals was a 3-way battle beween myself, meiaman and Jerell_rast and the results were as follows:

1. Soulreavercross - 20 pointsFIRST PLACE
4382 8348 1837 - Paris

Versus

12. meiaman - 5 pointsSECOND PLACE
3309-0437-7750 - Andre

Versus

13. Jerell_rast - -10 pointsTHIRD PLACE
2148-4882-4938 - Jerell

Here's a video of one of the final battles between Jerell_rast and Souleravercross

Note: There are no immediate plans to do another tournament, however if users like yourselves demand it and we get enough requests, then we may host one again in the future.

Special thanks to 2 of the helpers for the tournement: Bradmaster and meiaman and everyone else who participated

Good job to the top 3, in the end, the host wins it all, conspiracy theories? :P I wouldn't mind another one, after all, I didn't even make it past the first round so I didn't get that many opportunities to battle :(

That tyranitar has a +3 stages (250% of starting value) attack boost with a + 1 (150% of starting value) speed boost). I'd be surprised if it didn't sweep just about everything. However that was a good job setting it up, since that isn't that easy of a task. 1 thing though: I thought tyranitar was banned from the tourney.

Tyranitar wasn't on the banned list. Except for the non-legndaries and ubers, the other banned pokemon were: Salamence, Metagross, Garchomp, Bronzong, Lucario, Blissey, Wobbuffet, Wynaut, Ninjask, Weavile, Togekiss, Dragonite, Snorlax, Aerodactyl

Oh, ok, I probably just thought it was there since it's about equal to salamence and metagross IMO.

I removed the threads that had the reasons for banning the normal/overused pokemon but Togekiss was banned because of the Serene Grace ability combined with Air Slash

Oh, ok, I probably just thought it was there since it's about equal to salamence and metagross IMO.Hegna1

I think someone brought that up too when we were creating the banned list on the forums, and it was decided not to ban Tyranitar because of his x4 weakness against fighting and his slow speed.

Rules from a previous tournament don't apply to all tournaments. You'll have to wait and see, or host one yourself.

im thinking that tryanitar should be banned too because its at the same 'level' as dragonite, salamence, and garchomp.

although that wouldn't really benefit me cause my pack is:

dragonite100

salamence100

garchomp100

tryanitar100

milotic100

charizard100

on another note, whens the next tourney? i wanna play...

I'm guessing you don't battle competitively much as Garchomp is now considered Uber (I don't care if people use it, but most do). Also everyone caries some kind of counter for all those heavily overused pokemon. Finally levels don't matter competitively, everything is raised to level 100. EVs, IVs, and natures matter much more than level because of that.

ohh, but doesnt that also mean that dragonite and salamence shouldn't be banned as well? i mean, they both carry 4x weaknesses to ice attacks.

and another thing, tyranitar makes up for the lack of speed with its attack power

Wi-Fi makes everything level 100 or level 50 anyway. It doesn't matter if I use a level 40, a level 10, or a level 100 if I'm done with my moveset, EV training and evolving. The time spent leveling to 100 becomes useless when the opponent gets their pokemon brought to 100 themselves.

hold on, how does that work?

like if i bring in a level 5, it will be level 100 or something?

or does it round up in 50's?

The game boosts your Pokemon's level to 50 or 100 for the time being of the battle. It also calculates the Pokemon's stats if it were at that level. So yes, technically you can bring level 1s and it'll be level 100 for the battle. Course I wouldn't recommend doing so.

Exactly. After the battle, the pokemon level and stats will return to the normal.

You seriously have to listen to other people's advice and stop throwing my team everywhere. Sure I didn't mind it once since I knew it was a mistake, but after being told not to,You shouldn't do it again.

Yea, another one. I didn't know about the first one. But I have to train up my team some more. I don't have a single level 100 pokemon.
