Nintendo has discussed this a bit. They say while they like 3G (and it would help nintendo online) that it would add alot to the manufacturing costs of a handheld. as they aren't going to make people ppay a contract to use DS online
My question
Would you rather the DS2 be $200 at launch with Tegra 2 or some good advance mobile tech, say it has Tegra 2 which has multiple cores up to 1Ghz, say 128MB RAM (as much as original iPod Touch 3 years ago) and GPU capable at the least of GameCube graphics or more, plenty of internal storage (4GBs to 8GBs) and WiFi, multi-touch screen and cost all at $199 and no more (and lets say the screens are both 480x320)
OR
would you rather have a somewhat underpowered DS2 with 3G, always online always connected, possibly with a better shop/apps store, better emphasis on online multiplayer, with decent PSP/PS2 level hardware inside, like a ARM CPU @ 300Mhz, maybe 32MB RAM, a GPU that can do PS2 level visuals, and maybe two 320x240 res screens and 3G for $200
basically would you want power and WiFi? or 3G and modest power?
Nintendo could take very old tech and make a 3G capable DS very attractive at a $150-$200 price
But we all assume with the DSi's and XL's prices that the next DS will be at least $200 right?
