What is your take on the DSi and do you think it's worth getting?

My take is that it's a gimmick machine that's just trying (and failing) to rip off the PSP which resulted in getting rid of some of its best features (battery life, GBA compatibility, being region free). Everything about it is cheap and it's obvious Ninty is just doing this for a quick cash grab.

Will never get one. I have a DSlite and a PSP-1000 and I would consider upgrading to PSP-3000 one day but I wouldn't ever downgrade to a DSi.

Nintendo is doing a bang up job of alienating their fanbase. I don't even want to talk about the Wii but I must mention it just to say that the DSi will fall into the same pit of dispair.

I think that it is good for someone who still has the phat ds, and wanted to get the ds lite, but didn't because they knew that nintendo might release something even better. a good example of that someone is me:D. lol

I mainly want it to get those new games. I have a DS Lite, and I'm keeping it to play GBA games and take it places. The DSi will mainly stay at home for those times when I'm bored. The camera is kinda stupid, I do like the Channels and the fact that you can take a game out and put a new one in without turning the DS off.

I will buy it. Or I will wish it in birthday present ^^ I've had my DS Phat a long time now and the battery is pretty bad and the thing that holds the screen is broken so it's time for me tp upgrade :P By the way is it true that you can buy GBA games on the DSi shop?

sd card slot and cards makes way for handheld dlc which makes it a definite buy for me. thats what handheld games need now-a-days.

I will probably get it if/when a Zelda game comes out that makes total use of all it's features (like Phantom Hourglass did for the DS), but even then I just might wait until the next generation of Nintendo's handhelds.

I think that isn't nearly as bad as most people make it to be. The camera has much potential for gameplay such as detecting turns with it's outer camera so as to enable 2D motion to be part of games like steering. Or, it could even act as a Z-cam (IGN has an amazing video on that little device) and detect motion in 3D with it's inner camera. Also, i'm pretty sure the camera would do well enough acting as an online camera for the Wii(Freind codes of course). The SD slot and the hardrive are also a very welcome addition as now chances are we will finally be able to download classic handheld games. A far as i can see there is nothing wrong with larger screens and software to mess around with music. And the removal of the GBA slot isn't that important unless you had a gazillion important pokemon to transfer to D/P or if you adored one of the few add-on games. The actual playing of the GBA games isn't that important as you should be able to get your hands on an old GBA pretty cheaply. And from what i've heard from IGN Activision is adjusting to the DSi in an undisclosed way, i'm guessing that they will simply make a wireless controller for it, and other devs can follow suit. As for pokemon, we've all got plenty of time to transfer our old pocket monsters to our games before the DSi comes out. Also, many have complained about the lower battery life. My question to them is how much do you play every day? Even at the highest light setting the DSi will keep going for four or five hours, and do any of you play more then that in one day? And even for things like long airplane rides the lower settings will keep you going long enough. The point is that all you have to do is charge it every night and you should be fine battery-wise. Therefore, the only downside i can see is that the back isn't as shiny, which looked cool.

woah, a bag of bricks just hit me square in the face:

People are complaining that they can't transfer pokemon or play guitar hero:

-Don't you like playing guitar hero on consoles?

-instead of whining that you won't be able to transfer pokemon in the future, how about transfering them now?

Gee, that pile of bricks was pretty useful, now that I use my common sense :o

oh, and DSi FTW
