Hey, I have a scratch on my DSi. Not on the screen, but on the exterior, pretty small, but it REALLY bugs me.. the annoying thing is it looks more like a scuff, but it is definately a scratch. 1. Are there any scratch "fixers" that work? 2. Is EB games' warranty 14 days or 7 days? 3. If I can, should I trade it in for a new one?Xyphon101
1. Just repeat to yourself "It's just a game, I should really just relax..."
2. Did it come scratched? If not, it's probably not a warranty issue. If so, good luck convincing them of that.
3. I read on one of the DS forums about someone who traded in his DSi for a fairly minor issue and ended up with one that was worse. As I recall, his issue was with screen tint. If yours is functionally OK - no dead pixels, excessive tint, etc. - I'd say keep it.
It's a game system; it's not gonna stay perfect forever. Take care of it, but use it as intended and don't sweat the small stuff.

Well put.Just take it back with your receipt and demand a new one. Say that the system keeps locking up on you after about 15-20 minutes of game play. They'll be unable to confirm it and be forced to give you a recplacement. Good Luck.

Yes, dishonesty is always the best policy. Of course you'll need a new lie when you scratch the replacement.
Only being dishonest because Gamestop has the worst return policy ever. They ask you why your returning it and demand an answer. This is why I don't shop there. I purchased my DSI from amazon.com and it hada minor issues with the top screen. 1 Dead pixel. Gamestop would not have let me return it for that reason. However,Amazon let me return it within 30 days, no questions asked and even gives the option of a replacementor a full refund. Furthermoore, they mailed me out my replacement before I had to mail back the defective one.
You paid 170 dollars for the item. You have the right to return it within 30 days under any circumstances if you are not happy with it. Don't let gamestop dwebs refuse a return.
actually i just exchanged my DSi for the same reason. Im extremely OCD when it comes to my electronics when i first get them but after a couple months i dont care so much. I bought the first party nintendo case for the DSi and it scratched the hell out of the exterior. Nothing huge, but you could see them in youre standard room lighting. I just told Gamestop that one of the hinges was loose (which it was) and explained that if i spend 170 bucks on something, i want the damage coming from my own hand and not the fault of poor design.
Ehh, I can't ignore it.. These things bug me >.Xyphon101I can't believe you. No more to say but ignore it. You're basically stealing if you try and return it over a scratch. Not from the store but from Nintendo. They have to send the thing back to Nintendo and get a new one.

I think you should just deal with it. :/ I mean, seriously, if you let every little thing bother you like this for the rest of your life, you're not gonna be happy. Ever.
You're the one who scratched it, buddy. Lying to Gamestop to get a whole new DSi and giving them one that is actually perfectly fine but that they believe is worthless is cheating and stealing from both Gamestop and Nintendo.
If you scratched this DS so fast, then you're going to scratch the next one! What are you going to do, keep going to different Gamestops and lying to them to get new DSi's every time your current one gets a tiny belmish?
If you wanna return it so badly, TELL THE TRUTH. They may or may not take it back. Either way it's your own fault.
I would really reccomend though, that you just GET OVER IT. And take better care of your DSi in the future. I've had my Lite for 3 years - not a scratch on it.

Thinking: please try it.
RiotHeart. If you had any smarts at all you would delete this message before gamespot finds it and charges you. Did you forget what web site your on? Companies don't like it when people talk crap about there companies, especially not on their own forums! Use your brains man. Despite that being true or not you should never say those things online. You could get in a lot of trouble. Kids read this forums, they ar egoing to see that, and stop going to gamespot and gamepsot is going to be supir pissed, and its all because of this. Edit your post for your own safety Im not even joking around.

It really doesn't seem that bad to me if they let their employees play the game for a week and sell it as new. That would be pretty sweet if your were an employee, wouldn't it? And if it was still in mint condition when you bought it I don't see what the problem would be. If it didn't work, you could return it and get a new one. What's the big deal?
Well, does Nintendo know that Gamestop sells new games that are in fact, Used? Also, what stops the employee's from taking the registration codes? This is a hishonost and shouldn't be done. Oh the dishonosty! Because you said this I'm not going to buy new games from Gamestop ever again, or EB Games. Thanks for letting me know, and I hope Gamestop is happy they lost a frequent customer.
Wow, overreaction much? You said you're a frequent customer, and you've never noticed anything before. So obviously nothing happens to the games. Is it going to play any different because someone else played it for a week? No. And if theregistration code is gone, you can just return the game. They're just games. It's not someting to get all worked up over.
I get it how it isnt a big deal, but thats not the point. In thier store if the advertised "Hey we are selling new games, but they aren't actually new, tehy've been played already by our employee's" I doubt people would like that.
Dishonostly is a company is wrong. When someone claims thier product is new then dammit it should be. I have no idea how this is over reacting. You trust a company to sell you a brand new game, and yet, it isn't.
That's my point. I don't want to give my money to a company that lies to thier customers. It's disshonost, and I dont see why thinking that is a big deal.
It not the fact that its in perfect condition or not, the fact is, it isn't new, its used.

HAHAHAHAHAHA. Gamestop's return policy clearly states,
"Opened new merchandise may be exchanged for the identical item within 30 days of purchase but, withthe exception of opened new accessories, cannot be returned for a refund."
Therefore, it is not stealing. He is following the guidelines and return policy set forth by gamestop. If you spend 170 dollars on an item, you have the right to exchange it for the same item, no questions asked.
I am JUST like you. You just have to learn to live with the scratch on your DSi. I faced a similar problem with my iPod (loose click-wheel), and I exchanged it. The new one I got had the same problem. In the end, it's only a scratch that adds character to your DSi. :) These kinds of things are going to happen so much more in your life, and will be even worse, so this is a good start at getting used to them. :P Yeah that's my motivational speech.
Its pretty bovious. Gamespot is like a huge advertising site. Stores and developers probably sonsor Gamespot to show off their product. How else would they be able to buy so many games and still stay alive? Well... theres your answer RiotHeart. They are connected. As well as EB Games, yes. I wouldnt say one owns the other, but yes, they are very connected

Thats a pretty good point. For isnstance, when the GBA SP first came out, I payed $159.99 for it. I brought it to school and let my "friend" try it out. Later on when I wanted it back he said no and told the teacher I was trying to steal his SP. She takes it and says "One of you will have to prove its yours.". So then she tells us to write down stuff that we know about it. Something thats specific like a scratch or something. I list that theres a scratch on the surface that looks like an 'A' and theres dust under the screen that when turned on looks like half a smiley face. And I put that the game inserted was Golden Sun: The Lost Age and listed the levels of my characters. The other kid said "It was red and had an A and B button.". He got detention for 2 weeks and I was happy I dropped from my desk that morning.I am JUST like you. You just have to learn to live with the scratch on your DSi. Come on, its just a little scratch. Yo can live with it really, and it might look a bit better if you wipe it a bit with a cloth (smaller scratches basically dissapear when you do this). Plus, if you take it back on such a small thing, you might get one thats much worse.
I'd say, just put up with it unless it gets really bad.
If the next ones bad, I can take it back again, cant I?
And I never said I'd lie. They should by no means ask me why I want to return it, they have a policy.
Xyphon101
I don't think that's fair. If there was an actual problem they should at least recognize that people are having that problem. Scratches happen all the time anyways, why return it? It's such a waste.

Return it and buy a Zagg invisible sheild for the new one so it doesn't happen again. Mine's scratched too, but I got over it. It still works, it still looks cool, and it's still my DSi. Once one of those three factors no longer are true, then I'll freak out.I can't believe you. No more to say but ignore it. You're basically stealing if you try and return it over a scratch.
