the new ds that is going to be coming out with a larger picture, no gba slot, two cameras one on the outside and one on the inside. and a sd slot to play music. But if you already have a ds I dont think there is really any reason to get one unless you just like having the latest stuff

The whole point of Nintendo making the DSi was to counteract the sheer amount of R4s and other related piracy devices slipping under the radar. The DSi has an SD card slot, but it is there mainly so that people can store audio (in the form of .AAC files, which nobody uses), pictures (from the onboard cameras as well), and applications from the DSi Shop. However, the design of the DSi is made to prevent the use of flash carts such as the R4, with Nintendo going so far as to region lock DSi-exclusive games (though, I have heard that the DSi's firmware has been cracked already), and removing the GBA slot. Basically, the DSi is supposed to stop people from stealing games over the internet, so there's no R4 included with it. How successful will it be? Only time can tell.

The dsi is another ds, which has:

1)Bigger screens

2)Better speakers

3) 2 cameras

4) SD slot, probably to download games similar to the VC. That is what I've heard

5) The battery life is said to be lower than that of the lite's

6) No gba slot, but again, there is the SD slot.

That would be the biggest mistake in videogame history. I think you misunderstood what was said. The DSi is no longer compatible with the said device, or any others of its nature. The DSi is like the DS 1.5. More than a DS, but not exactly a DS2. It takes all of the DS' current functionality, with the exception of compatibility with GBA games and peripherals like the Guitar Hero grip, and adds new ones. Among the upgrades are two cameras(Outside and inside, inner being 0.3 megapixels, outer being 3.0, an image editor is included), a music player(visualizers, audio filters, only plays .aac format), a larger screen(3.25in as apposed to 3.0in, resolution remains the same-256x192), a download store(DSi Store, like the Wii shop channel. The DSi store launches with new versions of Brain Age), a voice recorder(10sec each and can be played through various filters), a greater width, length, but smaller depth, a longer stylus, and a downloadable web browser. A new, much needed feature is the ability to return to the new Wii-esque menu without shutting down the system. You can also swaap out games without shutting it off. The only real downside is that the battery life is shorter, the brighter screens can get so bright that the battery life will be reduced to 3hrs and that the DSi loses compatibily with 3 games and any features regarding the GBA slot. The device is currently being sold in Japan for $180, and will be sold in other territories well into 2009. There is no release date as of now.

Note: The DSi should be less than the Japanese price due to products usually being more expensive there as the DS Lite costed $160 there and $130 here.

I congradulate all who had the attention span to read this. < /topic>

The screen doesn't need to be brighter, and the battery life on the DSi will be shorter. + no GBA slot.
