DSI, worth the buy? or just a failed attempt to make the DS better?

What do you think about the DSI? Is it worth the money?

I am glad that I bougth mine. The improvements aren't huge, but they are fun and they do make a difference. Right now DSi Ware has a limited selection that isn't so great, but there are a few gems. Hopefully they come out with more soon and who knows what DSi exclusive games will coem out. I think in a lot of cases it comes down to the GBA slot. If you don't use it, I'd say go ahead and get the DSi. If you do use it, stick with what you got.

There's a discussion thread for this. Anyway, the improvements are as useful or useless as you want them to be. Nintendo's advertisements doesn't even completely cover basic usage of the system.

Meh, I'm still happy with my phat DS. I never saw a reason to purchase another version of the same thing. Since they took away the GBA slot, they lost any chance of me purchasing this.

I think DSi is more an attempt to directly compete with the PSP. Whereas before the DS Lite gave room for the PSP to be more appealing in some aspects now the DSi has a few of the features the PSP has, some that have been expanded upon such as music/photo editing, and it's own app store.

Actually, everything on the DSi is a scaled down (and in some places, improved) version of a similar feature on the Wii.

P.S. If the DSi is a failed attempt to make the DS better then why is it selling literally twice asfastand why are the majority of those who buy it satisfied with their purchase? I wonder if it will take DS users as long to stop hating the DSi as it did PSP users to stop hating the 3000...

I love my DSi and think it is a great improvement over the DS. The only thing I am not that impressed with is the DSi store but that is because it hasn't really taken off yet and Nintendo need to get some decent original content up there!

This is already discussed in details in the DS lite vs DSi - Comparison thread. The thread isn't that hard to miss because it's fully visible in the overhead text header
