For $189.99
This topic is locked from further discussion.
I told everyone this would cost no more than $200 and they said "no it costs $225 in JP it'll be that price here"
Anyone think $189.99 is an odd price point?
So basically they are charging an extra $20 over the regular DSi for larger screens, an extra hour of battery life and a larger stylus...hmmm. Although I was excited for the XL, I already thought the regular DSi at $170 was getting a bit high. Sorry Nintendo but I think I am going to pass.I told everyone this would cost no more than $200 and they said "no it costs $225 in JP it'll be that price here"

I don't know why they still make the Lite
It doesn't sell as much as DSi and those consumers who do buy Lite are nearly as likely to pay the extra for the DSi
DSi sold 16.4 million in its first year, with only DS titles and DSiware. Once they launch more DSi retail games this fall, you're sure to see that number get even higher
They should discontinue the Lite if only to make more consumers buy the DSi, so long as the DSi/DS lites profit margins are near the same amount

If they made it 200 people would go no way I could get a wii for that much!
I don't know which color to go with. Burgundy looks nice but that Bronze looks close to black, i want black really
what you guys gettin?
I wanted one so bad but I didn't hear anything about when the release was in January so I already got a DSi. I couldn't wait any longer to get a new DS, I was still playing an original. Lol
How did you like the screen size on the DSi vs. the DS Lite? I was watching some DSi XL videos and the thing looks huge! I can't find a store with a DSi on display though to see of those screens will be big enough for me.I wanted one so bad but I didn't hear anything about when the release was in January so I already got a DSi. Well the screen on the DSi compared to the DS Lite is about one fourth of an inch larger while (I think) the screen on the DSi XL is one inch larger than that of the DSi. So, if you want a REALLY noticable difference in screen size and would like a little extra battery time then wait the the XL to launch.
On their website: http://nintendods.com/#slideshow=meet-nintendo-dsi-xl It states that the DSi XL comes with two Brain Age games and a clock. Not sure if that helps justify some purchases but just wanted to post that.roosuu
So basically you get two $8 games, and a $2 app
$18 in free DSiWare.
DSi regular is $170, so to get those $18 in games/apps it'd be $188. $2 less than an XL

I'd rather they gave me $18 off the XL price and kept their 3 crap DSiWare titles. They aren't worth the blocks that they'd take up on the system memory.[QUOTE="darth-pyschosis"][QUOTE="roosuu"]On their website: http://nintendods.com/#slideshow=meet-nintendo-dsi-xl It states that the DSi XL comes with two Brain Age games and a clock. I take it they're as good as the very good Brain Age retail titles, albeit for cheap with less content
That is the issue. You can get the full retail games for around the same price. Its one thing to release Electroplankton in sections since so many people didn't get a chance to own the game but Brain Age?! I'm sure in their mind they are "doing us a favor" by adding a clock (which the DSi has built in....) and two cash-in levels of a full game. Again, keep their bundled games and give us back that "value" with a discount.SiK99
Technically the games are $8 and have content from each split up so its actually giving consumers more options if they don't like and don't wanna pay for all the games in the $20 retail version that they dislike
But i dunno. I'm ok with it personally.
its way too soon
unfair to people who already bought the dsi... like me
dsfanboy1
Then just stick to your current model. It's still just as good!
I honestly cannot wait for the end of March to arrive! This beaut is going to make it into to my collection, one way or another!
[QUOTE="Serraph105"]Size, price, extra hour of battery life, and the larger stylus are the only differences.besides the size is there any reason to get this over the dsi?
SiK99
also, DSiWare
You can't transfer it between handhelds so you have to re-buy the games
If you've downloaded a bunch like me, well you're kinda stuck with your DSi

Ahh, very true. I have $148 worth of DSiWare so far with another $4 worth of unused points left. 2 free apps, 32 games. They definitely need some sort of account or activation process going forward.[QUOTE="darth-pyschosis"][QUOTE="SiK99"] Size, price, extra hour of battery life, and the larger stylus are the only differences.SiK99

Who'd think there'd be a bigger DSiWare supporter on the boards than DP???? Jk.
Yea, it stinks that we can't transfer them. Heck, even a painful Clubnintendo registeration for every title in order to link/transfer to another system would be acceptable
Nintendo is big on people re-buying their handhelds and upgrading so i don't see why this issue is here.
I mean, with the Wii if you're wii breaks they transfer all the purchases data to a new Wii, i mean couldn't we at least transfer the DSiWare data if we bought a DSi directly from say, Nintendo stores online?
Ugh!
EDIT: I'd like to add, that next gen, for DSi2 and Wii2 or whatever, that they make Club Nintendo the big centralised online system for their consoles
Like when you get say, Mario Kart Wii 2 you pop the game in,...go online and first it registers the game through the internet via ClubNintendo, and links the game to your ClubNintendo ID, and you make friends by getting their ClubNintendo ids on your console not a FC. Therefore nintendo can track all games being played, and can give us an easier system to playing online with friends, and if our consoles break/stolen/upgrade we can transfer them as each console should be linked to a single Club Nintendo profile.
I could see this working. It would make more people use Club Nintendo because they'd force everyone to register for Club Nintendo when they want to play online games, browse the web, or access the shop channels
Whaddya think??

but nothing that actually makes a difference when it comes to gaming really.
DSiWare has been great so far. There is at least one person I know that has even more than me...Sergioalb64. A bigger role for Club Nintendo sounds fine. They just need to do something, if not this gen, then at least with the next gen DS. I wouldn't even care if I had to "deactivate" them off my current DSi in order to link them with the XL (or next system). As usual, Nintendo is way behind in the online/download arena. On a side note: The other thing they desperately need to do is make the DSiWare shop easier to navigate. Every week it gets worse....i think i have,..... $50 or so in DSiWare. It seems you're a bigger supporter than I! Who'd think there'd be a bigger DSiWare supporter on the boards than DP???? Jk.
