I know we have seen this thread countless times, but please, bear with me. I have a lot of dust brewing under my DS screen. Is there anyway to lift the plastic screen off and dust it without harming the screen itself? I have an original DS by the way.

It's not dust, they're dead pixels. There isn't anything you can do about them.

there must be an opening somewhere. can your ds touch screen be pressed down? I know mine presses down on the bottom right corner.

it's on the top screen, not the touch screen. and it's not a dead pixel. I have a dead pixel and I know what it looks like. this is obviously dust.

I think this may be the best time for you to think about getting the new DS Lite. It will only get worse and short of taking it apart I don't think you will ever get rid of the dust. The newer DS Lite doesn't seem to have this problem , at least mine doesn't. It's almost Christmas put it on your list. :D

I've had that problem too. If it bothers you that much. Call costumer service and buy a new screen for 6 bucks. They'll give you this tool to get the screen off very safely. Then you can wipe all of the dust off and by the way get a new scratchless screen. This is the top screen right?

I was searching the internet to find the answer of how to remove dust from the top of my original DS top screen, and i figured it out...figured I would share......Take a box cutter type blade, or something thin, and wedge it inbetween the black outlining of the top screen and the DS. The plastic covering is simply lightly gluded on, and easily pops right off. You can then dust away and stick it back on :)
