It is coming to both Ps3 and 360. Why are you mad at a business trying to make as much money as possible?

Exactly. I don't see anything wrong with widening the audience.

Well, then what was the point of making such a big deal out of the wii game only to make it free for PS3 and 360?

true but what he is saying is that a lot of wii owners that have 2 systems or more when a game is released on wii and a hd system at least 70% of the people will rather wait to get the HD copy of the game and there for EA in being greedy with wanting money may have doomed nba jam on the wii

Elite will have a hard time competing with this so they're adding that extra bonus to make people buy it more. It's just my guess but it makes sense.

i think Wii is lucky to even have EA consider to put it on that console considering they have up on a lot of their sports games. But now EA is making them for the Wii again like NHL but totally different and arcady.

Can you really blame them though? Third parties have been struggling a lot on the Wii. We are seeing less and less third-party developers making top titles for the system because of it. Once in awhile the Wii gets some highly anticipated titles like Goldeneye but how many of those are there? Not very many.

But it's not competing. NBA2K11 is a sim basketball game. NBA Jam is the kind of game you stick quarters into... They're night and day.

I'm talking about NBA Elite, which is in direct competition with 2K11. Did you even read the original post? EA is including NBA Jam free with that game. That's competing to me.

Yup. But it won't do much. Like me for example: I don't care if NBA Jam is included with Elite, I'd rather get 2K11 because it's just a better basketball game, and that's NOT just because MJ is on the cover.

But there are people who see a basketball game for $60 then they see 2 basketball games for the price of one and if people hold some nostalgia for NBA Jam i think they will probably pick that one.

From what i heard 2K basically own EA in the B-Ball department with all the gameplay and what not just like EA completely owns 2K with NHL

I don't know if it has already been mentioned, but the PS3/360 versions of NBA Jam are only a 'small portion' of the full game, apparently.

So basically its a demo... well then it seems like there is no reason to buy NBA elite. Unless the guy who fixed NHL and made it into what is today can do that with NBA

The NBA jam on Wii is the full version with more game modes while the other versions only have a few things. For people who only want NBA jam and do not care about NBA elite, the Wii is the only place to get the game solo. I don't see this as a slap in the face for Wii owners. EA and other companies are multiplatforming everything so everybody gets ripped off eventually.

This year we have seen No More Heroes 2, Tatsunoko Vs capcom, Monster Hunter 3, Sin and Punishment 2, Goldeneye, Metroid other M developed by team ninja, The Conduit 2, Call of Duty Black Ops, Those are pretty big titles to me so I don't know where the whole third parties are leaving is coming from. True some developers have left because they failed, but I would rather have fewer third party games that are great than have a substantial amount that are just ok.

Little King's story, Maramasa the demon blade, Zack and Wiki, Dead Space were all cool games and they failed so naturally third parties would leave.

People freak out way too much.

Free things are nice. What you on about "killing it". Likely it'll be better graphics and online on 360/PS3 and better controls (hopefully) on Wii. So get the version that appeals to you.

I don't think you can make any other feature be a bigger loss then online

Yeah, it sucks that it isn't online. That would be the best reason to buy this game. I also feel it should have been on Wiiware. The originals weren't exactly the most complex of games.

If I only owned a Wii--I would feel ripped off--even if the free download has less features. The free download will still have online play which is the biggest feature next to campaign and local play--you know the one that will keep players coming back for more. Then we're not even sure if the Wii version will have online play. Even if it does--I would feel ripped off for paying full price for something offered free elsewhere. Good thing I own all three!

So EA pretty much made it absolutly pointless to get the wii version if you have a choice basically. What the hell EA?! Why is the wii being treated as a second class console? (And don't you dare say that it is) Here's my proposal, either keep the game on the console it was meant for or keep all the versions the same price.

It killed for the Wii audience I'm not interested in sports titles but the ones who were hoping for this version and are single console users like me are going to be pissed, and I couldn't agree more with them Is not like the other consoles are really getting it for free as they'll pay the full retail price of elite, but they receive a bonus out of nowhere when the title started as an exclusive to Wii Pretty much what they're gonna do with DSE EA is NOT a good friend to Wii in these terms

I was not going to get NBA Jam anyway. I'm ok with that. I played on the originals on Sega Genesis. It was cool. But the online gaming won't give anything since the base of the game was on local multiplayergaming. It was more a party game. Throwing online won't be saying oh it will be great. I didn't buy a EA game since a long time and I won't buy anything from them.

The 360 and PS3 versions are going to be stripped down versions, so isn't that a good thing for Wii-owners.

It sounds like its only missing the remix mode, and adds online play which is a big buzz feature these days. That's definitely more than a demo, basically on the Wii it sounds like your paying for only one mode. This definitely reeks of EA having little faith in Jam on the Wii and no faith in Elite; this is like selling Crackdown with the Halo 3 beta. People were buying the beta, not Crackdown. It would be the same here, its like you buying NBA Jam for 50 bucks and getting Live for an extra 10, unfortunately there is no way around that extra 10. But its going to work, this will likely pull Live out of the tailspin its been in over recent years and will adversely effect the Wii version. Even if your not a Live fan, the value of two for 60 is much better than one for 50, especially since it has online play, something I have seen a lot of people questioning about the Wii version. Their not going to be able to sell the Wii version on that remix mode alone, so they are pulling Live out of the tail spin on the HD consoles and further sinking EA sports on the Wii.

The HD versions won't have the career mode which sounds like a huge chunk of the game and it's possible the Wii version will have online. They are still trying. I'm not sure why it's so hard to add online as every other EA sports game for the past few years has had it, including other basketball games. I personally don't care as I don't like sports games and never even played NBA Jam back in the day. If I was going to get it though I'd get it for the Wii as that was the system it was developed for. It would be nice of them to lower the Wii gams price to $40 or maybe even $30 though.

That one extra mode is not enough to justify a full priced game when your giving away the rest of it for free, even if the Wii version has online play, the free version has it too. But definitely if it doesn't. They really need to drop this to budget price or its going to completely bomb, because even losing that one mode, the Elite bundles value is so much better. Also I wouldn't really fall back on that whole, its the system it was developed for, because they didn't come up with this overnight.

Yeah I definitely think it should go budget. $30 would be a fair price. I do typically get games on the system they were designed for though and I don't really think there will be that much difference in graphics on the other versions, especially for the price they are charging. It's just going to be a ported Wii game with slightly cleaner and crisper graphics. Now if the Wii version doesn't have online it's value will significantly go down.

[QUOTE="LegatoSkyheart"]

This makes me absolutely furious.

I BETTER GET ONLINE WITH MY COPY OF NBA JAM FOR THE SYSTEM IT WAS MEANT TO BE ON!

I'm am absolutely mad that I'm paying $50 dollars for 1 game while the others can get 2 GAMES FOR THE PRICE OF ONE!

This is exactly how I feel Legato. EA is screwing ALL of the Once proud to be Wii owners of NBA Jam by offering a better version (even though they call it "Stripped Down") on the other 2 systems for FREE. The Wii version hasn't been said to have Online yet the others have been confirmed Online yet their version is Stripped Down because of a Lame "Remix Mode" that nobody will even care about. Please Justify a $50 Wii purchase somebody?

Well unless its changed, its $50 bucks, I don't see EA selling many copies at that price. Then a few months later their going to say "The Wii audience just doesn't respond to games" "We asked them to pay 50 bucks for a game we're giving away free and they still didn't buy it" I swear Riccitiello and I guess Moore in this case, make just some of the most boneheaded decisions. Did anyone bring this up in the meeting? Whose going to pay for a game, your giving away for free?

according to my Pre-Order Ticket(s). $5.45 + $49.10 = $54.55, I feel cheated about it too.

Agreed, agreed, and agreed. EA didn't kill this NBA Jam, but they probably just killed any chance of this game making a splash on the Wii. Unless this "Remix" mode is a revolutionary feature to the game (haha!), it's definitely not something that justifies paying $50 for when the core experience is being GIVEN AWAY on the other consoles. Even if it so happens that Elite is a total dud of a game, we're still talking about selling two pretty complete games selling for the price of one, and with the inclusion of online play, I doubt many people will even care about the mode that the HD Jam isn't getting (and for all we know, that could STILL end up as DLC down the line anyways). EA's going to have one heck of a time trying to sell Wii owners what is now basically a "bonus mode," and I think that remains the case even if the game is sold at a budget price (which would then show's EA's lack of confidence in the Wii version that was once considered an "exclusive" game).

Just when I think third parties couldn't do anything dumber on the Wii, they come up with something that makes a darn good case in testing that theory. To think that I was recalling how Square-Enix decided to sell Crystal Bearers on the day AFTER Christmas and saying, "Man, that was stupid" just earlier today, unaware of this little circumstance... :P
