I know it's been done 1000 times but I see no plans of them changing the system. This is what primarly stops me from making Wii my primary platform. WHen I go on xbox live, I play with strangers and talk with them. Guess what? Through this interaction, they become my FRIENDS. Why can't wii be so simple? Nintendo is always over paranoid and "protects the kiddies." Well wii is for everyone so make it more accessible.

Nintendo prides itself on Wii being easy to use. Yet, they make the online community the most difficult to use and understand.

I agree it is as easy as writing a phone number once. But for people who have been using Xbox live and seeing how simple it is to do without writing down friend codes, people want a system similar to that one. As for voice chat, I don't really care for it.

If it were 'once', it would be better, although it would still be onerous and needlessly un-uder friendly to have to manually enter those values through the Wiimote.

But it's not 'once'. Saying so is intellectually dishonest. It's "once, per person, per game". That's not so bad right now, with the very few online games that are offered, but the number increases exponetially as the number of online games scales up.

Dude if you want head set support go get a Dreamcast or a PSP. The Wii is just too new and powerful to support a head set go get a Dreamcast.

4- Implimenting Friend codes is optional. Third parties can decide not to use them in their titles (as EA already has with Madden).

More like where were you a few months ago? (support has been there since 3.0, all that changed yesterday was that the browser was updated to support this)

3rd party games suck, Nintendo games much better.

3rd party support Xbox360 ps3.

Wii very little or almost none. If you need me to answer this question please ask.

Wii numbers should be enough. You shouldn't need a different number for each game.

If you're friends with somebody it should be normal that you'd be friends with them for all the games you have in common and can play together,

Jaysonguy

Wow. You are completely missing the point. First of all, phone numbers are 7 digits (not including the area code), not 12 digits. Then each game needs a new friend code registration because there's no central network like Xbox Live. And then there's the fact that you cannot meet new people playing. That was one of my favorite things about playing online. Nintendo's online system is very unintuitive, and must I say it; broken.

Don't get me wrong, I love my wii. But with the plans for Smash, why even bother? It's like playing against a smarter (or dumber) bot. Hopefully that will be fixed with the delay of the game.

But seriously man, don't kid yourself. Friend codes suck. They always will.

I thought that was the point to the whole friend codes thing. I'm not kidding my self, I don't have a problem with FCs whatsoever, it's an opinion, therefor I say that friend codes do NOT suck. If you don't like it, it's as simple as, well; let me use this analogy, if there is something on TV that I don't like, guess what? I either change the channel or turn the TV off instead of complaining.

rant/Dear Fox Network, please eradicate the show American Idol, I cannot stand it. instead, please air new episodes of House./rant

Well, at the moment, only striker uses it's own code. We saw with Metroid that it's doable to only use friend codes. I don't know if BPR uses it's own code though. I don't really mind friend codes, but what I would like to have is more options with them. Like instead of adding a friend's mii as his display picture. People could add one of his choice that would show all the time. Also, having some status like games played or owned would help a lot. Right now it's kind of hard to know who is who when you have a big list of friends. And finally having a permanent user name instead of giving the person's firend the choice of entering whatever nick name he wants.

Firends codes is not the best option out there, but it could become ok with some works

alright, how about this:

they make an extra feature to the mii channel that lets you add more things to the mii, like age, interests, and others.

then you search for friends, and they have to accept you, and you dont need another code to play games with them, and you can only use the headset with those people.

solves all problems; meet new people, easier code system, and using headset.

tell me about the flaws in my suggestion if there are any.

Hey I see what your saying, but I don't think they should make it quite as open as XBox Live. They should have the option to secure your Wii online (for kids) and give us the choice to allow voice chat, simplified friend codes (or have an update that allows us to use a Mii that you created instead), etc.

I understand the Nintendo is family friendly with just about everything and I appreciate it, but as we move down the line, with more online games, an update will be needed, voice chat being one. Can anyone give me an estimate of how much Microsoft makes from the $50 p/year Live membership? My point is, I LOVE FREE STUFF, but if it will take me to spend $5 p/year or whatever to get a upgraded online Nintendo community, I am willing to spend it. I think most gamers who care for online play will agree, I mean, its working with Microsoft

Hahaha! "More headset and less friendcode," fantastic! I still want more safari and less track first. We should let Nintendo fix one problem at a time.

I don't have a serious problem with friend codes. I just want, in SSBB for example, to be able to exchange codes with random people I play, if they're any good of course. Maybe if there was an option to talk, even via keyboard, to them after the match was over, like say in the victory screen, the problem would be solved.
