Hello my four fellow Endless Ocean fans,

Endless Ocean: Blue World will be released in NA on Feb 22, 2010! Rejoice! This version is looking like a great improvement on the first in almost every way. Has anyone played an import yet? There are some great videos on Youtube courtesy some annoying guy here if you haven't checked it out yet.

Sorry if this is late!

Also, final boxart:

cool, but a game simply can't capture the feeling of SCUBA. I'm a diver and endless ocean didn't really do it for me. that said I'll still grab this one.

I'm also a diver, but I don't play this game to replace diving, I play it for a different gaming experience. So many games are so frantic nowadays that it's nice to just sit back and play with one hand. That said, the atmosphere is pretty impressive; I find myself breathing in time with my in-game diver sometimes.

This is awesome news. I can't wait to play this game, been looking forward to it for quite a while now.

Wasn't it supposed to be called Endless Ocean 2: Beautiful Ocean? I like that name better than Blue World.

About time we get a release date on one of the best games in all of 2010!

Despite what the first one went through it was a fantastic title, this had better beat it

Good, I've been wanting to buy the first one for awhile, but the price it is going for is exhorbent. I might pick it up when the bottom falls out after the second is released.

I'm glad to hear this is getting so close. Definetly a must-buy. I took a chance on the first and bought it new - now I'm just glad I got it for $30 instead of whatever outrageous price its going for on Amazon.

I would imagine they re-named it to stress the fact that the game does not take place solely within the ocean anymore. Jasonguy, what do did the first game go through?

The first one went through an evolutionary process to be where we found it on the Wii, it was going to branch out from the sim but then they were unsure how much and what perspective to use and how free they were going to be on the "game" aspect

Now they have a first game they can build off of and that cancels so many "what if's" that they can dedicate more time just making a better game instead of deciding what kind of game it should be

Yeah I guess that makes sense, I just really liked how it sounded :P

Oh well, guess it's not that big of deal,it's still going to be an amazing game regardless.

I haven't gotten the first one, but planned to get it in the future until I heard about this game. I like the idea of the games, but this one in particular seems like a big improvement in a lot of ways to the first one. I hope I enjoy it as much as I think I will.

lol of course it didn't. That would be like an astronaut expecting Dead Space to capture the feeling of a space walk. Its a video game, until they start tapping into our very nervous system and senses, they could never emulate the feeling of reality. Anyhoo, I'm looking forward to this, I likely wont grab it at launch because there are other games I want coming out that week, but I will get it eventually. I'm really liking how they have different environments now and that the marine life has well more life.

actually games can and do catch a feeling of the action. games like blur, shaun white. the sports games tend to do a good job. endless ocean was neat, but a bit how do I say.. boring. some kind of challenge would be nice. difficulty hovering leading to tricky exploration and a point system based on hovering and not touching anything would be neat.

This is exactly the same kind of criticism it faced continuously when it released. Endless Ocean isn't about challenge. What some people call boring, others call relaxing. And relaxing was the goal of Endless Ocean. Just enjoy the exploring. If you can't, its okay, it wasn't meant for you.

This game is so original. One of the most original games this generation.

The game is about exploration andrelaxation.

Some of the criticism is warranted in this game. Not necessarily boring, but not everything is as fleshed out as it could be. I hope that the next game improves upon that and pursues all possibilities.

So what exactly has been improved upon from the first one?Vic-Ferrari

Well, improved graphics, WiiSpeak support for online multiplayer, more dangerous creatures, tighter controls, and more environments to explore. There might be more, but thats all I can think of.

Lots of subtle changes as well. Check out the videos in the OP and see for yourself.

I agree with Pichoro,

This game is about being unique and different than every other game. It was games like this that made me choose the Wii over the PS3 and the Xbox. It just fit with my game tastes a little more. Nothing beats coming home from a day of work, sitting down and exploring the ocean depths. Can't wait, thanks for the update.

Yep as mentioned there's,

Better Graphics
Wii Speak Support. You can still only go diving with one friend but you don't need to use the underwater pen to write messages, but it could still be an option.
You can get attacked by sharks and other creatures this time around. You also get a stun gun to zap them.
You get to explore different areas around the world, rather than just an enclosed area like in the first one. I think there's 7-8 different world locations.

For what wasn't mentioned,

You're not just limited to walking around on your boat as the main hub area. This time there's a big island where you can interact with different people.
You still get to have a giant aquarium that you can populate with whatever sea creatures you encounter, but this time you also get an area like a zoo. It's just like the aquarium but instead it's for all the different wild life you encounter like penguins, birds, polar bears etc.
Youget money for the treasure you find this timearound, which you can use to purchase new scuba equipment and other stuff. I think there's double the amount of treasure that there was in thefirst game.
The fish encyclopedia has more than double the amount also, in the first one there was only about 40 pages, this time I think there's over 80.
There's also going to be a completely new soundtrack.

This game's going to be awesome. I'm actually looking forward to it more than Super Mario Galaxy 2.

Here's the official japanese website, http://www.nintendo.co.jp/wii/r4ej/you should be able to figure it out by clicking around. It has different videos and screenshots. It shows all the world locations etc.

On the main page of the official site near the bottom right there's a white button that says Wii.com. If you click on that it takes you to a different page with some gameplay videos/japanese commercials. Here's a link for anyone who doesn't feel like looking http://wii.com/jp/articles/forever-blue-uminoyobigoe/#exp

I watched the overview video. It does look pretty good, a lot like Aquanaut's Holiday for PS3. I also like the fact that you can walk on land this time too.

J_Ford

There is also your own private coral reef you can populate with different kinds of plants to attract different animals, larger quantity and variety of jobs, all your equipment is customizable in terms of quality and aesthetics, you can get a haircut (woo!), you can take and export photos to an SD card, and there are 350 different kinds of fish and 300 kinds of treasure.

I'm sure there is more that I missed too.

Wow! Thanks for all the info J_Ford! I *love* Endless Ocean & I'm anxiously awaiting this one. I started the first EO over, which I never got the opportunity to finish the first time around, in anticipation. I still have at least 15 creatures to find. Like many of the previous posters this game is about relaxation for me. I downloaded lots of music to dive to which was a great addition. I love the original music on the game, too. I never did get an opportunity to dive with a partner. I figured most people have stashed the original game away...but lately its had me up 'til 3 AM searching. :)

Good. It'll be Nintendo's first released game of the new decade...at least in America.
