Etrian Odyssey

Isn't it shipping out today?  My EB will probably get it tomorrow, and I'm going to snatch it right up.

Reviews so far knock it for not having a story, but I hate how all RPGs have to hold your hands all the time with cheesy storylines nowadays.  That's not what dungeon crawlers are all about.  You have a story introduction and the rest is up to your imagination.

Although reviews will be bad i have to say Reviewers Opinion on RPG's is lame nowadays , they always comparing RPG's and saying a game sucks cause it's not a sgood as other or there no voice etc etc. i think reviewers trying to get RPG's exiled from America the way they review them so nitpicky.

Example Legend of Heroes on the PSP got A here but this game is a great RPG , but just cause i follow a same pattern there like it's the sucks. but reviewers should also consider some people never played those types of games and to them this is a an AA game and hardcores don't care it follows a specific pattersn all games do. i hate when reviews say , it feels tacked on , doesn't mesh well, Feels rushed, Bad Localization , stupid stuff like that makes no sense , how can a game feel rushed? how can a game feel tacked on? makes no sense to me

Game Informer gave Etrian a 6 but i'm still gonna buy it the reviewer didn;t explain anything about the game just sat there and compared it to old pen and paper RPG's and said "the Nostaliga is what got me hyped about this game but it didn't give me nostaliga" right there the reviewer lost me when i buy this game i'm not expecting any nostaliga i'm expecting a RPG i never played before and just cause he got Nostalgia doesn't mean DS gamers are expecting that.

Basicallyi'm gonna buy it and don't listen to reviewers opinions on RPG's seems there trying to exile the Genre cause they want every RPG to say rpg but play like a Button tapper or shooter(See Xbox 360), 

most of people go with prejudgments of previous games and don't make a objetive review....

The thing is IF you like RPG you should consider Etrian Odyssey or at least see Yggdrasil Labyrinth that is the eastern version...there is not a lot of RPG games in ds (at least not for my taste) and Etrian Odyssey looks strong in a DQ style

thats true , but what if you weren't born in 1980 and never played those games , if you have nostaliga about them games maybe someone 8 thru 16 might play Etrian and 10 years later talking about how a Future game is lame cause it didn't live up to Etrian. why do reviews need to be biased and hold grudges on current titles for being to much like the past, we just wanna know if the game is lame or purchasable , we don't want you to give a game a bad score i might actually enjoy cause what if i never purchase the game cause you say it's lame, i would miss out thats what.

a perfect Example is Legend of Dragoon scored 6.6 here cuse it was to much like past games, this was the second RPG i played (after FF7) and i don't know how anyone can come to a clonclusion that this game was that bad. if you compare it yes but on it's own if your looking for an rpg that isn't a 6.6 game.
