But DSi XL will be released next year. Will Nintendo release the next one in the same year? That doesn't seem likely.

Actually it wouldn't be in the same year. You are forgetting that the handheld would be released in Japan first, then rolled out to the rest of the world later. There was only about a year between the DSi and DSi LL in Japan.
DSi Release: Japan-> Nov. 1st, 2008 Rest of the world-> April 2nd-5th 2009
DSi LL/XL Release: Japan-> Nov. 21st, 2009 Rest of the world-> Q1 2010(Jan,Feb,Mar)
Possible DS2 Release: Japan-> Nov. 2010 Rest of the world-> Q1 2011

i really doubt that a DS2 will come out that soon if nintendo keeps releasing new variations of the DS.People still see the DSi XL as something more than a minor redesign?

People still see the DSi XL as something more than a SKU that is only in addition to the current DSi SKU?
Wait, so if the current Tegra's clock speed is 130Mhz then it would actually run 3Mhz slower than the DSi's current ARM CPU?
Well, either way Zune HD games do look better graphically than DS games, so i guess its something.
(Am I missing something on this? well i guess Tegra has additional CPUs on it so i suppose it will outperform all DS games and GCN games)
It all depends. If Nintendo rolls out a healthy amount of DSi only games next year, I'd say no new handheld til after Wii 2 in 2012.
If they, for some strange reason, allow only third parties to carry the platform with a handful of DSi only games, then i suppose its possible but honestly i still don't see it until 2011 at the earliest
and i don't think they will handle a DS and Wii successor in one year, i know they've launched two platforms in a year many times before But the DS/Wii brands are so popular that they really will need to devote a lot of time to make sure they don't lose their industry leading spot, so i'd take no risks and focus resources all on one platform one by one, and i'd rather have a Wii 2 before a new DS platform when the DSi can still be used for a 2-3 more years

It's highly likely that they will go with Tegra 2 with Cortex A9.
As I said before, it's nearly certainly a 40nm *custom* SoC based on Tegra2 IP (DX9-level like Tegra1) and a single Cortex-A9 with FPU. Tegra1 has 2 TMUs, Tegra2 probably has 4 TMUs. It'd be a relatively safe bet to assume they're going to stick to that, but who knows. I also have no clue about what kind of multimedia system Nintendo might have asked for.Arun
We're probably looking at this setup: 40nm 1xA9, 1080p Decode, 1080p Encode, 4xTMU/2xVS, 32-bit LPDDR2
What does this all mean? Assuming this info is correct, we can expect visuals that are clearly superior to those in the new Zune HD games. I'm personally hoping for a handheld that is graphically on par or even slightly better than the Wii, given the screen's low resolution.
The thing everyone needs to consider are the release dates of the next iPod touch and PSP. Those are the two consoles Nintendo are competing with and the DSi just wont cut it.Raiko101
how is the DSi not cutting it when it outsells PSP by miles, and is a bit ahead of iPod Touch.
Mind you iPod touch has sold 20 million in over 2 years, DSi has been on market 1 year and sold 10 million already, so they're really selling at the same rate
